For a chance to win a copy signed by Malorie Blackman herself, purchase a raffle ticket from Ms Parkin for 50p. All proceeds will be donated to the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust. The Voice is Britain's only national black newspaper, and every year it runs an essay competition for school students during Black History Month. This year, the essay question is Who is your favourite black author and why? Your essay must be 500 words long and may include a picture. The winning entry will be published in The Voice newspaper, and shortlisted students will be invited to a presentation event (last year's was at City Hall, and the winning students were invited to 10 Downing Street!). If you are interested in entering (and aged 14 and under), pick up an entry form from the library! Deadline for entries is 20th October. October 3rd is the 25th Anniversary of National Poetry Day - come to the library to borrow a poetry collection or a novel in verse! Your Turn To Die
