A heavenly light beckons the wise men to “come and see.” In anticipation of encountering an earthly king, they bring with them earthly gifts.
Their long journey reaches its climax as they enter the house and see the child with Mary, his mother. Encountering the Living God, the magi do not simply kneel before Christ; they prostrated themselves on their faces and gave him homage. When they left, they went with divine treasures in their hearts.
The Epiphany is the feast of the manifestation of the majesty
and divinity of the newborn Savior. This manifestation, revelation, is open to all who wish to “come and see.” There is no limit or boundary to God's love. The whole world, the whole universe and the whole creation is included in that love. How wonderful it is that God's love is revealed to everyone, everywhere, without bound or limit!
When we encounter the living Christ in our hearts, our
earthly gifts are transformed into divine gifts of the heart. Our treasures become supernatural, giving us a share in God’s own life. In this way, our work becomes vocation…our volunteering become ministries. We manifest God in our own selves and carry his divine light to others, so that they may “come and see” the king of all creation.
Meet the Incarnate Christ – both divine and human – and
our encounter becomes more than just developing a personal relationship with Jesus, but it is about entering in the mystery in such a way that we allow ourselves to be transformed into the divine Body of Christ. As his Body, we share one mind and purpose, not only with Christ, but also with the entire Body. This is the role that our parishes play in our society. They are to be schools of community life, life within the Body of Christ. Here is where we learn how to Live, and ultimately how to Share Christ with the world.

COME AND EXPLORE SPIRITUAL DIRECTION!
Spiritual direction is the process of deepening your
relationship with God and is more about companioning someone on their spiritual journey than it is about “
direction”. Suggestions may be made for deepening prayer, however, the priority is to help you find GOD in all things. An
individual meets in a confidential settings with a director for about one hour at Sts. Simon & Jude usually every 4-6 weeks. To give a
try, contact one of the spiritual directors below.
SPIRITUAL DIRECTORS • Pam Proctor, 281-367-2482, [email protected], • Carolyn Pace, 936-242-1247 • Jeff Proctor, 281-367-2482, [email protected] • Candy Muse, 936-273-2533, [email protected].

Explore your relationship with Christ and others Initiates 9 Days for Life parish wide novena
Have you heard that the U.S. Catholic bishops are asking us to pray for life from January 21-29, a special period of prayer, penance and pilgrimage? A novena, easily accessible by computer, phone, or by download, will unite us in the days surrounding the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision which legalized abortion throughout pregnancy. An end to abortion is not the only intention. We'll also be praying for people at all stages: those near the end of their lives, children in need of adoptive homes, those mourning the loss of a child through abortion, and many others.

The purpose of DJM is to offer all people an on– going training program. This program enables all to grow spiritu-ally and work effectively in the world. It draws material from Gospels, the teachings of the the Church, and spiritu-al authors. The program founded by Fr. Santan Pinto, S.O.L.T offers how to discover your plan of life: the plan of life, found in the Heart of the Father, who created you to be. The process helps us to recognize the way in which the Lord has been forming us throughout our entire life. SSJ Event Center Approved as a Red Cross Shelter
The SSJ Event Center is now an approved Red Cross Shelter to provide sheltering of individuals during an emergency. How about joining the team and helping staff the shelter? The primary need is volunteers to assist with the registration, dormitory and feeding. There is no time commitment and you will be able to work the time and days you want but there is a requirement to become Red Cross Certified for liability issues. The process is simple and once certified you are authorized to join the team and assist in the shelter operations. To become certified the steps are as follows.
1.Log on to the Red Cross Volunteer connection at https://volunteerconnection.redcross.org
2. Register with the Red Cross and authorize the Red Cross background check
3. Take the Online Red Cross Orientation 4. Notify the shelter management team though
[email protected] upon completion of the background check and forward Red Cross approval to that email address.
5. Following approval from the Red Cross you will be added to the SSJ Shelter Volunteer Team on Flocknotes and start receiving notifications. https://app.flocknote.com/stsj/
All training for the Shelter will be done on our campus and although you may get information from the Red Cross on other area issues you will be added to our team thus making Red Cross communication minimal. A reminder, SSJ is partnering with Red cross therefore no one can work in the shelter without being Red Cross Certified.
Our Ministry is completely confidential. There is no right or wrong way to start in this ministry. It
does not require an in-depth knowledge of theology or bible verse. It is from the heart and your beliefs as a
Catholic. There is a training session for writers before being assigned to a prisoner.
We use first names only (or you use a pen name), and all letters are sent to and from our parish P.O. Box. There is
no direct contact with your pen pal and no visitation required. This is a letter writing ministry only.
Additionally, prisoners sign an agreement clarifying the purpose and intent of the ministry and are provided our
guidelines, before they are enrolled in the ministry. Lisa Naeger PT, CPS
