From the Pastor

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Blessed Laetare Sunday. May your hearts be filled with joy this day at the nearness of the great Feast of Easter. This Sunday reminds us to always fix our attention on the glorious and risen Christ even when we are in the midst of suffering, or perhaps I should say especially when we are in the midst of suffering. Lent is a time of penance, a time to offer our sacrifices big and small in atonement for our sins in union with the Sacrifice of Christ. It is a time to take stock of our lives and examine them in the light of the teachings of our Lord and Savior. I hope and pray that the time still remaining in this holy season may be a time of grace and that your hearts will be truly converted so that you may ex-perience the full joy of risen and glorified Christ. Soon Easter will be here. I am writing this at a time when we are still in the process of working out the final details of the visit of Father Jose del Carmen Lizarazo Blanco from Colombia. He is coming to our parish to give us a mission on devotion to the Blessed Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. The plan is for him to give the homilies this weekend at the Spanish Masses and then to celebrate the daily Spanish Masses as well as every evening at 6:00 p.m. He will be coming with two other people and they will help to organ-ize our chapel of perpetual adoration which will be held in the newly blessed Chapel of St. Toribio. It will be a great grace for our parish to have people praying around the clock seven days a week before our Eucharistic Lord. I hope you will join in this joyous adventure and experience the rich graces the Lord has in store for you. He will bless you and your family and will bring about an increase in vo-cations to the priesthood and religious life from our parish. He will strengthen the faith of the commu-nity and will console those who are afflicted with problems. In this Jubilee Year of Mercy the Lord is showing us His kindness in a tremendous way.

March 6, 2016

Thank you for responding to His love. On Satur-day, march 12th Padre Jose will be offering a day long retreat to help us be renewed in our Christian lives and I hope that you will participate if you have the opportunity. It will start at 9:00 a.m. and continue until around 4:00 p.m. and be held here at our parish. Let us know in the parish office if you plan to attend so that we can be sure to have suffi-cient materials ready as well as the food that we will be serving for lunch. We hope that the perpet-ual adoration will begin that day as well. Next Sunday you will see the statues and images of the Church completely veiled from sight. It is a reminder that the sorrows of the Head have af-flicted the Body as well. the delight of seeing the blessed images is taken away from us so that we may realize the stark sense of abandonment that the Lord Jesus experienced in His human soul dur-ing His tremendous passion. He was afflicted, a Man of sorrows and felt crushed because of our sins and offenses. When we begin the glorious celebration of the Resurrection we will unveil the images again so that our joy may be restored. We are working hard on the Visa application proc-ess for the religious sisters from El Salvador. It is progressing. Thanks to the hard work of many peo-ple the convent is ready, there is a car for them and we are making plans to build a car port. Hopefully soon we will know what day they are coming. At least they are escaping the cold weather and will arrive when it is warmer. They have probably never experienced snow before. Please pray that all goes well. Sincerely yours, Father Timothy Davison DDF Update as of February 19th: Sts. Peter & Paul has given $13,882.00. Our goal this year is $17,850.00. If you have not already done so, please send in your envelope to the Diocesan Development Fund.

Gracias a Dios, ¡somos cristianos!

Sinceramente, Padre Timothy Davison
