Francis, Mary & Thomas Parishes "Fatherhood is giving life to others, giving life, giving life." ~Pope Francis Happy Father's Day! I hope this day is full of blessings for all of you, fathers in our parishes. For me, this Fa- ther's Day is a little different than previous years for two reasons. First, this will be the first Father's Day in which I won't be able to call dad to wish him a good one, although I'll still remember him in my prayers. Second, I'm preparing to leave all of you, who have been calling me father for the last few months. But I don't want to make you feel sorry or sad for me. In both cases, my faith in Jesus Resur- rected makes me see things with different lenses, as I explained on my last week's letter. Because I believe in the Resurrection, I believe that I'll someday see dad again. After all, one of the duties of parents, as explained in Gaudi- um et Spes is to help their children become saints, that is go to heaven. "As a result, with their parents leading the way by example and family prayer, children and indeed everyone gathered around the family hearth will find a readier path to human maturity, salvation and holiness." (GS 48) Also, because I believe in the Resurrection, I know that I shall see you all again. Further- more, we'll be united in prayer. At a meeting with homeless people in New York, Pope Francis said, "Prayer unites us; it makes us brothers and sisters." I promise I'll keep pray- ing for each one of you, and I hope you'll do the same. Well, it sounds like I'm already saying good- bye. But we still have another week together, so I'll save that for next week. In the meantime, I leave you with a prayer to St. Joseph for Fathers, written by St. John XXIII St. Joseph, guardian of Jesus and chaste hus- band of Mary, you passed your life in loving fulfillment of duty. You supported the holy family of Nazareth with the work of your hands. Kindly protect all the fathers who trustingly come to you. You know their aspi- rations, their hardships, their hopes. They look to you because they know you will un- derstand and protect them. You too knew tri- al, labor and weariness. But amid the worries of material life your soul was full of deep peace and sang out in true joy through inti- macy with God’s Son entrusted to you and with Mary, his tender Mother. Assure those you protect that they do not labor alone. Teach them to find Jesus near them and to watch over him faithfully as you have done. Happy Father's Day!

I hope this day is full of blessings for all of you, fathers in our parishes. For me, this Fa-ther's Day is a little different than previous years for two reasons.

First, this will be the first Father's Day in which I won't be able to call dad to wish him a good one, although I'll still remember him in my prayers. Second, I'm preparing to leave all of you, who have been calling me father for the last few months.

But I don't want to make you feel sorry or sad for me. In both cases, my faith in Jesus Resur-rected makes me see things with different lenses, as I explained on my last week's letter.

Because I believe in the Resurrection, I believe that I'll someday see dad again. After all, one of the duties of parents, as explained in Gaudi-um et Spes is to help their children become saints, that is go to heaven. "As a result, with their parents leading the way by example and family prayer, children and indeed everyone gathered around the family hearth will find a readier path to human maturity, salvation and holiness." (GS 48)

Also, because I believe in the Resurrection, I know that I shall see you all again. Further-more, we'll be united in prayer. At a meeting with homeless people in New York, Pope Francis said, "Prayer unites us; it makes us brothers and sisters." I promise I'll keep pray-ing for each one of you, and I hope you'll do the same.

Well, it sounds like I'm already saying good-bye. But we still have another week together, so I'll save that for next week.

In the meantime, I leave you with a prayer to St. Joseph for Fathers, written by St. John XXIII
