My teaching interests and focus lie in three areas. 1) Skill Development in fundamentals of Civil Engineering: Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulic Engineering, Probability and Statistics, Systems Analysis, Planning Methods, and Engineering Economy. 2) Teaching an interdisciplinary approach to natural resource and managed environmental systems, including teaching technology to non-engineers and scientists. 3) Undergraduate Research: Using one-on-one teaching in the problem solving context to develop independent thinking, problem solving and deeper knowledge.

I am engaged in research in three distinct but related areas. 1) The development and management of water resources, agricultural and environmental systems at the global and local scale. 2) The assessment of the potential impact of climatic change on the development and management of water resources, agricultural and environmental systems. 3) The Human Dimension of Global Change and the associated socio-economic impacts. I am especially interested in how technology, economics, and institutions interact in this process and I am actively involved in multidisciplinary research with ecologists, economists and social scientists.
