Ecosystems is a family orientated business whose primary

objective is to promote a spiritual, peaceful, healthy

environment focusing on sustainable community

upliftment with honesty and integrity.

We are a close corporation established in 1994. Our prime

business focus is that of community development, the sub-

ventures being that of permaculture, renewable energy

solutions, training, marketing of Eco LSF-Structures and

many more. We approach business professionally, working

in a green environment and uphold our ethics of

sustainability, eco-friendliness and supporting of local

businesses and community.

In 2012 Ecosystems formed a joint venture with RH

Construction providing the service of marketing for their

light steel structures. RH Construction is situated in

Richards Bay. They design, manufacture and erect light

steel structures. They are accredited by SASFA (South

African Light Steel Frame Building Association) and

Agre’ment (on application).

Structure Design & Making

RH Construction manufactures and erects light steel framed ECD centres, classrooms, soup kitchens, contractor

accomodation, cottages, garages, store rooms, site offices , ablution facilites, disaster relief houses using Altenative

Construction Methodologies. The structures comprise of light gauge steel:

90mm profile for the interior and exterior walls and roof trusses.

63mm profile for partitioning, joists and brandering.

You have a variety of different options when it comes to cladding, this can be either fibrecrete board, cromodek

sheeting with options of prints of either wood or brick, OSB timber board or masonite pattern board. The structures can

be insulated with either 90mm polystyrene, sisalation or isotherm (think pink).

The frames are generally 2.4m high and 90mm wide and are manufactured from 0.58mm thick galvanised light

gauge steel.

The windows are made from meranti timber, with 4mm glass panes. Alluminium is also an option offered for both

doors and windows. The doors are 10 panel doors with Union four lever lock

sets . Roof trusses and galvanised roof sheeting are all rolled at the factory and transported to sites, ready to assemble.

This steel is purchased in coils and is rolled into panels with the use of the Scottsdale Construction System. The RF 700 series is an intelligent CNC roll-forming machine that automatically produces all the framing components for a

structure. The computer controlled, servo driven roll-forming machine precisely rolls out the steel profile

through seven progressive stations. The accuracy of the extrudded steel construction components is down to

0.5mm.

The frames are extremely light weight which makes them safer, easy to handle and easy to transport and erect.

Being fireproof is an obvious safety advantage. The steel frames have an inherent design, strength and quality

which is consistently assured, especially when the manufacturer carries a nationally recognised certification. Being durable and climate resistant the steel frame will far

outlast its normal counterparts. We do offer electrical installations and plumbing which is

installed by our onsite teams. Ecosystems also offers the option of an off the grid

structure. This would include solar PV for power supply, solar hot water system, water harvesting and grey water systems. This structure is ideal for remote developments

or just to get off the grid.

The galvanised steel coils [used for frame work] specification is Hot Dipped 55% AL-ZN G550 AZ150. The slit coils are either 90 mm or

63mm profiled. The steel frames are pop riveted together. All steel structures are certified by a qualified engineer to comply with the

SANS10160 and SANS10162 design codes as well as the preliminary SASFA Code for low rise Light Steel Frame Buildings.
