HOW DO YOU CREATE STRUCTURES AND ROUTINES IN A
MULTI-GRADE CONTEXT
WHAT IS MULTI-GRADE CONTEXT? Multi-grade teaching involves the
teaching of children from two or more grade levels in one classroom.
Such contexts requires the employment of particular teaching methodologies and classroom administration.
WHAT IS STRUCTURE IN MULTI-GRADE CLASSROOM? The way that something is built,
arranged and organized. OR The way that a group of people are
organized
STRUCTURE IN A MULTI-GRADE CLASS:-When you have a wide range of age, ability, maturity and interests among the class, it is very important that your classroom is highly organized and structured. Following are some points that describe the structure in a multi-grade classroom:-
Desks organised into small groupings.
Boxes or folders for students work to be kept in.
Workstations or LEARNING CENTRES, where individuals and groups may go to complete activities. These will be made by the teacher which include math's, writing, language etc.
A space in the center of the room, or perhaps some marked spaces around the room where groups can sit on the floor and work.
WHAT ARE ROUTINES IN A MULTI-GRADE CLASS ROOM? A regular way of doing things in a
particular way OR Boring state or situation in which the
things are always be the same.
ROUTINES IN MULTI-GRADE CLASSROOM:-Routines include:- Planning and organization
Classroom structure should be well arranged.
Schedules must be prepared.
Visuals should be displayed in an appropriate way.
Data must be according to the mental level of the students of different grades.
Work tasks can also be helpful for the students.
Communication status should be effective and same to every student without any favourism.
