NanotechnologyV 1505 Structural Features of Nanotubes Synthesized from NaOH Treatment on TiO2
with Different Post-Treatments. — Hydrothermal treatment of TiO2 with 10 N NaOH (autoclave, 130 °C, 24 h) yields Na2Ti2O5·H2O, a disordered phase with a layered structure. This phase undergoes Na+ exchange with H+ upon washing with HCl leading to Na2-xHxTi2O5·H2O nanotubes. The hydrogen content x increases with acidity during post-treatment. At pH = 1.6, anatase-type TiO2 becomes the major structure. — (TSAI, C.-C.; TENG*, H.; Chem. Mater. 18 (2006) 2, 367-373; Dep. Chem. Eng., Natl. Cheng Kung Univ., Tainan 70101, Taiwan; Eng.) — W.
