A note from Ms McIntosh….
Welcome back to term two. I hope you had refreshing
holidays, and enjoyed spending time with your families and
friends. This term, we will focus on teaching and learning with
our school value of ‘excellence’ at the forefront. We will
investigate, with the students, what excellence means for
each individual, and set challenges and high expectations for
everyone, in everything that they do. Our, ‘You Can Do It’
focus will be on persistence, which will support our students to
understand the concept of sticking at a task, even when
challenged, to achieve excellence. We hope that you will
reiterate these values at home and discuss with your children,
what persistence and excellence look like outside of school
ANZAC DAY
Next Wednesday is ANZAC day and a chance for us to
commemorate all those who have served our country in the
armed forces and support services. Monday’s assembly will
have a focus on the ANZAC commemoration and we hope to
see many of you in attendance.
TERM EVENTS
This term will see more exciting events which will support our
teaching and learning programs. We are looking forward to
5/6 Camp, the Life Ed Van Visit, Education Week, cross
country events, NAPLAN and the beginning of our kinder to
prep information and transition process. As well as these
things, we will see excursions, celebrations and in-school
events. Remember to check on Compass for our up to date
calendar of events.
LIFE EDUCATION
This week, the Life Ed van is visiting the school and all classes
are scheduled to attend. The Life Ed van provides an expert
educator who will work with the students to discuss many
aspects of health. The programs are designed to suit each
year level and cover topics around physical health, mental
health, relationships and more. As we hear more and more in
the media about the importance of strengthening respectful
relationships, supporting mental health and building resilience,
we are pleased to have access to this valuable learning
resource at Rosanna.
HATS
Please remember that hats are to be worn until the
end of April.
CANTEEN
Welcome back Sharon! We are so happy to see you
back and well. The canteen is fully operational
again and open 4 days a week this term from Tues-
day to Friday. Keep those lunch orders rolling in.
Thank you so much to Ruby, Ally and our fabulous
parents and year 6 students who helped out while
Sharon was away.
Heather McIntosh
Principal
Wandering around the school on Monday morning, I
was amazed at how quickly students have
engaged in learning. This week they have been
focussed on learning in whatever classroom I have
visited.
Every Day Counts is the theme for the Department’s
focus on attendance. When students are away,
they can miss important learning steps or find
themselves disconnected from their peer networks
upon their return. Working together between home
and school is the best way to support every child’s
learning.
There are a number of absences for students that
remain unexplained. These are absences from
school that have not be explained by parents. If
your child has attendances that are unexplained
please ensure that you enter an attendance note
on compass, write a note to your child’s classroom
teacher or ring the school. Your support in helping
maintain the safety of all students is appreciated.
Next week we will send home a letter listing the un-
explained absences of each child. Please ensure
that this note is returned promptly so our attend-
ance rolls can be amended.
Over the coming weeks we will be emailing parents
when students are not attending without explana-
tion. Parents can register absences of students
online through Compass, with a simple phone call or
email to school. We hope that this service for par-
ents and carers will continue to strengthen the rela-
tionships between home and school.

HEIDELBERG DISTRICT ATHLETICS DAY
Last term we had over 65 children represent our
school at the Heidelberg District Athletics
Championships. The children enjoyed the
competition and were excellent participants and
spectators. There were many strong performances
with many children getting places in their events.
It was excellent to see the children compete to the
best of their ability and, more importantly, do so
while displaying good sportsmanship and fair play.
Well done to everyone involved.

pine, interesting shaped boxes (none which
have contained nuts please) newspapers,
clean ice-cream containers, re-cycled, clean
