On behalf of the board of Cabinteely FC senior team, can

I wish all our dancers well tonight. I know there have been

tears and spills but it will all be worth it and all right on the

night.

My thanks also to a hard working committee who have put

this event together.

This evening adds in many ways to the project that is

Cabinteely Football Club, mainly fun and enjoyment for the

whole community. We want to create more evenings like this

that we can all look back and enjoy for many years to come.

Of course there is serious side and all the funds you the

supporters have given through sponsorship and ticket sales

will go towards growing activities within the whole club – with

all aspects of the club benefitting from tonight’s fundraiser

– The Junior and Senior sections as well as the Special Needs

team, who will benefit directly from tonight’s proceeds – It

will also help us maintain our ambitious player pathway all

the way to the highest level in national league football.

MC for the night is none other than Mr. Eoghan McDermott. The TV host has found fame in Ireland co-hosting ‘The Voice of Ireland’ and on ‘2FM’. Finding success also in the UK presenting a radio show on XFM. A keen choreographer and credited dancer himself, supporting international acts such as Rihanna, The Pussycat Dolls and Chris Brown, he is sure to bring his expert opinion on our dancers tonight.

Thurles born Una Healy is joining our judging panel for tonight’s event. Una found fame with girl group ‘The Saturdays’, having had amazing success globally; she’s no stranger to heavy dance routines and performing to a crowd. Now pursuing a solo career and appears as a coach on RTE’s ‘The Voice of Ireland’, she’s sure to make one excellent addition to the panel.

Next to join us on the panel is comedian Patrick McDonnell. The Irish comedy legend of well-known for appearing on hits such as Father Ted, Naked Camera, Savage Eye and Moone Boy- sure to bring a few laughs to the night we are delighted to welcome to the judging panel.

Local TD Mary Mitchell O’Connor is our third addition to the judges. Her work for the community and success in this past election credits her to the work she does. A Fine Gael Candidate since 2011 her ability to make difficult decisions will be put to the test tonight!

Cabinteely Football Club is a unique voluntary sporting organisation that is

working for the community in South County Dublin. We are a community club that

plays at all levels in Irish football. Today we have over 1,000 players in 60 teams

(mens, ladies, boys, girls and Special Needs), making up an extended Cabinteely

family of over 3,000 individuals.

The Club’s athletic drive supports a place for players to exercise, socialise and

develop numerous skills that will be useful throughout their lives. We provide all

children and adults the opportunity to be the best that they can be and achieve

their goals. Healthy families make healthy communities and our Club is dedicated

to the process of making all this happen, but a serious financial cost is incurred in

achieving this.

All Board members of Cabinteely are voluntary and do not get paid. All committee

members of Cabinteely are voluntary and do not get paid. We have 135 coaches,

of which 131 are voluntary and do not get paid. A small number of coaches and

an administrator, who work full time hours, are the only people paid for their

services. These select few people give more hours than can be expected, and their

payment can only been seen as a thank you gesture.

Our League of Ireland team is playing in the financially competitive SSE Airtricity

League of Ireland and, as such, is set up as a separate Limited Company to protect

the Junior Section of the club. This means that there has to be two

Boards and hence two Chairmen. However the club works strictly

under a one-club ethos, with one voice representing

‘Football for all’.
