What  is  Stress?  

•  Physiological  or  Biological  Stress  is  an  organism's  response  to  a  stressor  such  as  an  environmental  condi7on  or  a  s7mulus.    

 •  Stress  is  a  body's  method  of  reac4ng  to  a  challenge.      •  According  to  the  stressful  event,  the  body's  way  to  respond  to  

stress  is  by  sympathe4c  nervous  system  ac7va7on  which  results  in  the  fight-­‐or-­‐flight  response.    

 •  In  humans,  stress  typically  describes  a  nega7ve  condi7on  or  a  

posi7ve  condi7on  that  can  have  an  impact  on  a  person's  mental  and  physical  well-­‐being.

What  is  Burnout?  

•  Burnout  is  a  psychological  term  that  refers  to  long-­‐term  exhaus4on  and  diminished  interest  in  work.    

•  The  Maslach  Burnout  Inventory  uses  a  three-­‐dimensional  descrip7on  of  exhaus4on,  cynicism,  and  inefficacy  (inefficiency  &  ineffec7ve).    

•  The  an4thesis  of  burnout  as  engagement,  which  is  characterised  by  energy,  involvement  and  efficacy,  the  opposites  of  exhaus7on,  cynicism  and  inefficacy.

Burnout/Adrenal  Burnout    

•  Adrenal  glands  secrete  stress  hormones      (eg.  adrenaline)  to  prepare  body  for  acute  emo7onal  &  physical  stress  

•  When  you  keep  pushing  yourself,  adrenal  glands    will  fa7gue  &  won’t  be  able  to  produce  enough    adrenaline  

•  Adrenal  fa7gue  causes  fa7gue,  cravings,  weight  gain,  mood  swings  &  other  health  problems

•  Rapport  is  about  connec4on  or  rela4onship  •  French,  from  rapporter  to  bring  back  rela7on;  especially  :  rela7on  marked  by  harmony,  conformity,  accord,  or  affinity  -­‐  Merriam-­‐Webster  Online  Dic5onary.  

•  Rapport  is  that  feeling  of  being  comfortable  with  someone  and  trus4ng  them.

•  People  do  business  with  people  that  they  know,  like  and  trust.    

•  If  you  could  build  stronger  rela7onships  with  your  poten7al  clients  faster  –  would  that  be  of  value  to  you  and  to  your  business?

•  Person  A  is  to  share  the  same  story  and  Person  B  must  break  rapport  by  turning  around  or  deliberately  breaking  rapport
