Exhibitions are open to a large and sometimes diverse range of audiences (usually the general public). India and jewellery, jewellery and Indian women - the terms are linked inherently. At the time of wedding as well as numerous other occasions, a woman is gifted jewellery by her parents and relatives. Although the gift is meant to give her security in contingency, ornamentation is an obvious purpose. All the cities across the length and width of India have shops of jewellers - some traditional and some modern jewellers, catering to the need of all kinds. Quality has different meanings subject to different interpretations- it may mean ‘hygiene’ in health and hospitality, ‘safety’ in electrical and electronics and in services it may refer to ‘speed’ and ‘reliability’. Cost of a product may also be referred to as a quality measure. But we will refer to quality in the operational context as conformance to established standards. Quality control refers to activities undertaken to maintain specific quality of products within reasonable limits. It involves the determination of quality standards to ensure that the established standards are followed. The aim is to secure a reasonable product quality at a competitive cost level by achieving a systematic control over the variables involved in manufacturing the product. Maintenance of a satisfactory level of quality is essential for the success and survival of any company. Quality control offers advantages such as improvement in the brand image, facilitation of standardization and cutting down costs by avoiding defective production. It also leads to increase in sales and makes the company competitive by helping in accurate prediction of costs involved.
In next session Mr. Rajesh talked about the work condition and health hazards/safety. In this session he briefly discussed about the arising health and safety issues at workplace. He mentioned that in many institution employers are list interested about ensuring the safety and health issues. He also mentioned that workplace safety and health is an area concerned with the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or employment. The goals of workplace safety and health programs include to foster a safe and healthy work environment. This may also protect co-workers, family members, employers, customers, and many others who might be affected by the workplace environment.
