STREET STYLE FASHION – BATH’S CREATES A WALL OF FASHION

Bath’s fashion style will be put in the spotlight as ‘Street Style Photographers’ hit the streets during

lead in to Bath in Fashion 2011 between 23rd - 27th March.

Get ready to get snapped as Bath Spa University students hunt for photo worthy ensembles to see

how our street style measures up. Will we be fashion VIPs or fashion victims? Acting as Bath’s own

paparazzi, the team will capture Bath’s ‘Street Style’ before displaying the images as a street art style

mural of our local fashion. The mural will be displayed in a unit in Bath Street, with more images

being added to it throughout the Bath in Fashion 2011 festival. The objective is to create a “wall of

fashion” which will be displayed at the centre of the city on Stall Street.

Street style photography has surged in popularity over the last few years particularly amongst photo

bloggers online, and is regularly followed by many of the fashion conscious. A source for

inspirational personal style, there has been a growing need to see fashion both on and off the

catwalk and what better way to get a taste of Bath’s style than to see it on the people’s runway, the

streets. Bath Spa Fashion student Alanna Kaye was inspired to map street style in Bath by “The

Sartorialist” which captures stylish people on the streets of New York and was listed as one of the

top 100 design influences by Time Magazine. Allana says “this is a collaborative project with fashion

and photographer students seeking out interesting street style in Bath. We hope to capture a cross

section of fashion and interesting characters who support their own style”.

If you are in need of inspiration for your new season wardrobe, book your tickets now for the

Spring/Summer Fashions show at The Octagon Milsom Place, watch top designer fashion being

paraded across 2000 year old pavements in Fashion ‘n’ Fizz at the Roman Baths, and catch cool

Urban Fashions at the city’s new shopping centre, SouthGate. With big names such as leading

London producer John Walford, top stylist Rebekah Roy, and Julian Roberts inventor of a garment

pattern cutting method called “Subtraction Cutting” giving his unique demonstration, the Bath in

Fashion 2011 has an impressive line up.
