Connecting generations across Perth & Kinross

Generations Working Together (GWT) is excited to announce the launch of a new project which will bring together younger and older people to work together on projects and activities which will raise attainment in literacy and numeracy, building respect and understanding between the generations. These activities will be taking place in Perth Grammar School and the Community School of Auchterarder.

GWT is actively seeking older volunteers who have 2-6 hours spare each week to take part in a variety of projects held within the two schools which will help students improve their numeracy and literacy. No experience is required as full training will be given and each volunteer will be fully supported by our Development Officer, Maureen O’Reilly.

There are great benefits for both younger and older people to get involved in this project including learning and sharing new skills, making new friends, recognition and use of their experience talents and skills and most importantly having fun.

If you would like to know more about the projects in either school please get in touch with Maureen at [email protected] or at 07927550730

Transforming Surgical Services in Tayside

NHS Tayside is carrying out a consultation on surgical services at Ninewells Hospital,

Perth Royal Infirmary and Stracathro Hospital and we would like you to hear your views.

The proposed changes would mean that all unplanned general surgical care would

take place at Ninewells, allowing more planned procedures at Perth Royal Infirmary.

The consultation will run from 3 July to 16 October 2017.

Additional public meetings have been organised for the Perth and Kinross area as

follows:

Presentation and Q&A events

Monday, 9 October, Loch Leven Community Centre, Kinross, from 5pm to 7pm

Thursday, 12 October, Crieff Community Campus, ICT rooms, Crieff from 5pm to 7pm

The consultation period has been extended to accommodate the additional

events and will now run until Monday, 16 October 2017.

Information on the consultation can be found on NHS Tayside’s website by following this link –
