BULGARIAN POLITIC AND STRATEGY FOR ENVIRONMENT

PROTECTION

The main objectives of the Bulgarian National Environmental Strategy 2009-2018 are to reduce and prevent the effects of climate change, clean energy, providing sufficient quantity and of good quality water, healthy environment for better quality of life, promote sustainable consumption and production, and limiting halting the loss of biodiversity.

It aims to even the formation of new patterns of behavior of society, environmentally friendly and promoting sustainable development and providing better information and environmental monitoring.

To each strategic objective identified, specific goals and measures for their implementation . The document provides for the Council to coordinate the implementation of the National Environmental Strategy 2009-2018, with Prime Minister of Environment and Water. Council will prepare an annual report which will be presented to the Council of Ministers. The action plan contains specific measures to implement the strategic objectives. Some of them are the creation of marine and coastal protected areas and mechanisms for their management, preservation, restoration and building the necessary

infrastructure to ensure sufficient quantity and quality water for drinking purposes of the population, identify the manufacturers, importers and users chain of chemical substances on their own and in preparations and providing information to the public about the risks of certain hazardous chemicals, development of strategic noise maps and action plans for management of environmental noise, etc.. Strategy and Action Plan were developed by the Ministry of Environment and Water and are consistent with relevant ministries and government agencies, academia, environmental NGOs and industry organizations.

The projects are consistent with the main strategic documents of the European Union and United Nations related to sustainable environment. Necessary financial resources to implement the strategy and action plan will be provided under the budget, pre, Structural and Cohesion Funds, enterprise management activities protect the environment, etc.
