Heart of Discovery Campaign (2005–Present) With a naming gift from technology pioneer and Gordon trustee Ken Olsen, this capital campaign resulted in the Ken Olsen Science Center, which greatly expanded research and teaching opportunities for students and faculty. First Strategic Plan of the Carlberg Presidency (1994–2001) The first strategic plan, approved by the Board of Trustees in April 1994, was intended to “move Gordon to a new level among Christian colleges by the year 2000.” It outlined the need for new facilities in the arts and sciences. Blending Tradition and Innovation (2001–2010) “After years leading up to the 21 st century of rapid expansion, this is a moment for consolidation, for ‘strengthening the center.’” This strategic plan stressed reaffirming tradition, expanding vision and mapping the future of information technology at Gordon.
