Quick presentationFrom your favorite design software Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or inDesign, connect to a DALIM ES server with your usual login and password and directly access your projects with your desktop publishing software.

Keep your assets synchronized among the team and directly create new revisions without going through uploading them via the web interface.

Work either on simple or complex documents that you can build in low-resolution and generate in HD at any time.

Installation of the DALIM ES CONNECTOR

Mac OS

Open the installation folder .ESConnector_install

Double-click on .install_mac

This window can appear because of the security settings of your mac:

Click .OK

Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy

Click .Open Anyway

Do not rename the installation folder with spaces.


Click and wait for a few seconds.Open

The installation is completed!

Open the installation folder .ESConnector_install

Double-click on and wait for a few seconds.install_win

Open the DALIM ES CONNECTOR in the CC AppsFrom the main InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator , choose toolbar Window > Extensions > DALIM ES CONNECTOR.

Connect to the serverType your server URL and click .CONNECT

The other servers that you already connected are listed at the bottom of the window, click on them for a quick connection. Click on to delete them.

Then use your login and password to connect.DALIM ES

You can check your connection to at DALIM ES your server link:8080/Esprit/browser .

Use cases

How to create/edit a document with assets from the server (InDesign/Illustrator)

The server is the centralized storage place of the whole team. With the DALIM ES Connector, you will be able to create and edit documents with assets that can either be on this centralized server or on your local device. If the asset you need to place in a document is on the server we will see here how to proceed.

Create/open a new document or select one from the , and clickInDesign/Illustrator DALIM ES CONNECTOR Browser > Check asset out

How to create/edit a document with assets from the server (Photoshop)

As a designer, you will also want to create and edit Photoshop documents with assets. We will here focus on how to do it with Photoshop.

Create/open a new document or select one from the , and clickPhotoshop DALIM ES CONNECTOR Browser > Check asset out

Select one asset from the and click DALIM ES CONNECTOR Browser > Check asset out

Copy the asset ( , then in the asset window) and paste it on your document ( in the document command + A command + C command + Vwindow)

Note:

"Layer 1" is the new layer created when the asset is pasted.

How to edit a document from the server with new local assets (InDesign/Illustrator)

Sometimes the assets you want to use are not on the server yet, so here we will learn how to place them on a document from the server and quickly upload them to the server for future uses.

How to upload a local document to the server (InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator)

Once you created and edited a document with assets from the server and/or your local device, you will want to upload this document to this centralized storage place that is the server so the workflow in your team can go on smoothly. That is the focus of this part.

Save your document in or )(clickInDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator File > Save Save As...

How to update the new revision of a document to the server (InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator)

How to switch the resolution of assets (InDesign/Illustrator)

Downloading HD versions of hundreds of assets can take time or working with HD files can slow down your computer. That is why you may want to work with asset previews.

How to change the revision of an asset (InDesign)

For some reason, the current revision of an asset placed on a document is not the revision you want. Here we will learn how to quickly replace a revision with another.

On the workspace of an document, click on the asset that you want to modify with the Selection Tool, it will select it in the InDesign Docume tab of the , select this assetnt DALIM ES CONNECTOR

In the , click DALIM ES CONNECTOR Document > Show in repository

On the workspace, bring your mouse to the center of the asset until you see a hand, click and press on your keyboard delete

In the , select the version you want for the update and drag & drop it into the frame. The position of the asset in the DALIM ES CONNECTORframe is unchanged.


Note:

On the third step, be careful not to delete the frame, only its content.

How to link local assets to already existing assets on the server (InDesign/Illustrator)

You could have worked with local documents to avoid downloading assets from the server or you may accidentally have worked with assets unlinked from the server. This is not a problem since you can quickly link local assets to the server ones with the and here we are going to see how this works.DALIM ES CONNECTOR

Place the local assets you want to link in an document, nInDesign/Illustrator ames of the local assets should match with the server ones.

Is it possible to create a document with assets that come from different servers?

Yes, it is. You have to be connected with valid credentials and rights to each server for all assets that you want to use in the document.

Test connectivity and configuration to Dalim ES

The connector uses the CMIS API integrated into ES. The URL to target is the default URL of your ES instance, that can be a domain name or IP adress. If you installed ES on a specific port, you have to specify it explicitly (default :8080)

The connector is able to automatically detect protocols (HTTP / HTTPS) an test some URLS like "/Esprit" at the end.

Test the CMIS connexion

If you encounter some connection problem, you can use the OpenCMIS Workbench to test the connexion. Test it from the same computer you want to use the DALIM ES CONNECTOR from.

Download "OpenCMIS Workbench" from here : (Need also a local JAVA)https://chemistry.apache.org/java/download.html

You will need to :

Enter the full URL, including protocol (http/https), port (maybe ":8080" for a default ES install) and finish the URL with "/Esprit/browser" to be able to access the repository catalogSelect Binding: BrowserHave valid ES user/pass (same as in the connector)

If it logs in, you can assume the connector is able to do the same.

Then you can test to navigate, download or upload ("Create object").

Certificate chain error ("Unable to verify the first certificate")

When connecting to a server, the connector does not behaves exactly like a standard web browser : the verification of the SSL certificate is strict.

In the case your SSL certificate has not been issued from one of the root CA, you may need to explicitly install an intermediate certificate into Apache.

To install in your server : First download the certificate from your Certificate Authority, then install it by adding the following line under the virtual host entry of your site/domain in the or file: SSLCertificateChainFile path to certificate.crtHTTPD.CONF SSL.CONF

In memory of the ancien times when the "OPI" was replacing Low-res by High-res files directly in EPS/PDF files, we called this process "OPI server side", even if the operation occur in inDesign source files.

Associated with the DALIM ES CONNECTOR, all links of your documents will always be up-to-date.

Process

Insert the "InDesignOPIRender" in your workflow, and setup the following parameters :

inDesign Server IP and credentialsPDF preset to use for server side generationName of the windows/mac share for file excehnge between systems

Then, every .indd file arriving in the folder will be processed by the workflow, and rendered as a separate PDF file. This file can be placed in the same folder or elsewhere, and start another workflow like a page-by-page validation process

Color Settings

The synchronization has to be done using .Adobe Bridge

Close and Quit all but .CC Apps Bridge

In Bridge go to Edit > Color Settings

Select the Color Settings File desired and click .Apply

Back in , go to InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator Edit > Color Settings

It should display as "Synchronised" and RGB and CMYK color management policies should not be "off".

• You can use the OR and AND boolean operators to find documents where the metadata includes all values (AND) or one of the values (OR)

• The NOT operator excludes the docu-ments which metadata includes the term after NOT.
