A man in his 50s was found murdered in the quiet suburban Vlier Street in the early hours of Tuesday.

One killed, one injured in collisionStefan de Villiers

Hendri Els and his two beautiful daughters, Jade and Emily.

A local was killed and another is in critical condition after they were involved in a head-on collision on Saturday night.

Hendri Els and Chelee Falconer, both 37-year-olds, were traveling towards Vergenoeg on the Plaston Road when the accident occurred.

According to Serg Cynthia Mbokodo, spokesman for White River Police, an oncoming Jeep allegedly veered off to the right-hand side of the road, colliding head on with the Renault that Els and Falconer was traveling in.

Els was killed upon impact and Falconer was rushed to hospital. She is being treated for several severe internal injuries.

Emergency personnel battled for two hours to safely remove her from the wreckage.

According to her sister, Anchery Hattingh van Dyk, she is in a critical, but stable condition. “She was woken up from an induced coma on Tuesday morning, and she is showing immense improvement,” she said.

They both worked at Phat Boys during the evenings. After their shift ended on Saturday night, they quickly popped in to a family gathering at Ben’s Den before heading home. Falconer is a teacher at Wem School in KaBokweni during daytime, and Els used to work at Thomas Tyres in White River.

A memorial service for Els was held at NG Kerk Witrivier yesterday.

Annatjie Myburgh case postponed

More than seven months have passed since White River’s Ms Annatjie Myburgh had died. When she did not show up for work on June 15 last year, a community search was launched.

Her body was found in the vicinity of the Kruger National Park’s Numbi gate four days later. It is believed that two men had cornered her while she was driving her Pajero and that they robbed her of her vehicle. It was reported that she was forced into the same vehicle and kidnapped. Two men were arrested following her death – Messrs Paul Mathebula and Selby Mabila.

They were charged with kidnapping, robbery and provisionally charged with murder.

Yet the details of what had happened to Myburgh are anticipated to come out in court. Their trial has not yet commenced, as results pertaining to a second post-mortem conducted on the body are still outstanding. Mathebula and Mabila’s case will resume on February 20.

mother and father Sarin and Marius Adendorf, his brothers Marius and Derick, his sister Sarisa van der Merwe and wife Nicole.

His father, who was notii ed shortly after the incident, said they were shocked beyond belief. “Henry was someone that lived life to the full. He was a cheerful, honest and genuine human being.”

They used to live in White River about 17 years ago, and frequently returned for a visit. “Our current visit places renewed emphasis on how big of a difference he made in so many people’s lives.

From our side, we wish to thank everyone who supports us during this difi cult time. But we would like to especially thank those who supported Hendri when times were tough,” he concluded.

It is believed that two men had cornered her while she was

driving her Pajero and that they robbed her of her vehicle.

So was die Here, Pa se wortelstelsel en sy Woord Pa se voeding.

Pa was my rots, my anker, my wysheid en beste vriend,” het Casie, sy middelste seun gesê.

Johan Coetzer.

Johan Coetzer en sy vrou Ella.

bitterste, donkerste dag in my lewe toe die Here Pa so skielik van my af weggeruk het.

Ons

het as vriende voluit gelewe. Daar is gereeld gebraai, blommetoere gedoen, elke jaar twee maal by Ngwenya of Burchels vir ‘n week saam gebly en elke dag die Wildtuin besoek.

oom Johan was ’n dinamiese man met ’n sterk karakter.

P.H. Kat as waarnemende hoof.

Bel hom by 083-354-1206 of vir Hannes Raath in Witrivier by 072-140-1812.

The King’s School now offi cially fi t for royaltyThobile Mlangeni

After 30 years of existence, The King’s School has i nally been accredited by Umalusi, the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training.

This is a success that few private schools in the province have attained.

“This ongoing process started two years ago, and after thorough inspection and regular visits to our school by representatives from Umalusi, we were ecstatic that we were i nally granted accreditation which allows us to partake in

the departmental examinations, allowing our grade 12 learners to receive the NCS certii cates. All this feels wonderful, all the work we had done was worth it,” explained management.

The King’s School’s i rst matric class of 16 candidates made history when it attained a 100 per cent pass rate in the 2016 exams.

Through the school’s dedicated teachers, commitment from both parents and pupils with long hours of hard work, and serious study as well as revision of past exam papers, these results were achieved.

The school was ranked among the top

Forty excited youngsters started their grade one year at Uplands Prep on Wednesday morning.

Divided into two classes of 20 each, teachers Claudia Harris and Sally Wiggill kicked the day off by getting to know the

pupils. When the boys and girls were asked what they did this past holiday,

one made no secret of the fact that he had tried every fl avour of ice cream on the market.

They did some colouring, proceeded to the library to stick their noses in some books, and to the IT centre where they learned how to use Tux Paint.

While many were unsure how to to work a computer at i rst, some were able to type their full

names and draw pictures from the get-go. With some help from teacher Jo-Anne Choonara though, everyone soon became comfortable

with the machines.

Pupils from King’s already enjoy the use of edu-pads. These mini-computers contain text books and lessons.

Its boarding facilities are top of the range and parents can rest assured that The King’s School strives to make the hostel

environment as homely as possible. It has strict study hours and the friendly

staff are always there to provide assistance. The preschool is also a safe place where

children can learn and play under the supervision of their teachers.

It also provides a wide range of sporting codes, including athletics, cross-country, music, hockey, rugby, swimming and soccer.

Afrikaans Hoër Meisies was
