State-of-the-art components and engineering make the Stralis an extremely efficient vehicle under all operational conditions

REL

IAB

LE Iveco engineers conducted targeted studies to improve the cab interior and living space and worked hard to optimise systems, drivelines and mechanical efficiency.

The Stralis underwent a host of tests.

• More than one million kilometres of functional and ageing tests on demanding tracks.

• More than one thousand hours on special rigs (climate-controlled, vibration and ageing chambers) to simulate the entire life span of a vehicle in operation.

• More than five million kilometres of testing in the field with real customers.

• More than fourteen thousand hours of functional and reliability tests that really put the engines through their paces.

Available in 8, 10 and 13 litre versions, they cover a power range from 360 bhp to 560 bhp and are already fully compliant with the European community "Euro 5 Directive" controlling exhaust emissions.

The 6 cylinder in-line configuration with overhead camshaft and rear distribution ensures compact size, fewer components and above all, great structural rigidity.

These characteristics ensure less vibration, lower noise and smooth, sure-footed operation in all situations for better comfort and durability. The cursor’s power can be called on at all times because the torque curves peak below 1000 rpm and stay at the same level throughout their range of application. These powerful, reliable engines are designed to offer outstanding performance and low running costs. They offer superior driving comfort assured by their extraordinary flexibility.

cuRSOR 13 The cursor is available in 450, 500 and 560 bhp with a vGT. It offers a cylinder capacity of 12.9L with 6 cylinders in line.

cursor 13 is equipped with mFS (machined From Solid) Turbo wheel, for high performance and durability even in the most demanding applications.

All cursor engines are equipped with the variable Geometry Turbocharger (vGT), till today, unique in the field of heavy truck engines.

This type of optimised turbocharger contributes to excellent engine performance. The vGT adapts the characteristics of the turbocharger to the engine revs, electronically controlled: a “moving wall” system adopts the volume of the exhaust gas entry section, allows permanent control of turbine speed and so boost pressure which is strictly connected to engine’s power and torque.

Furthermore, the vGT helps keep power unit performance high while improving the performance of the Iveco Turbo Brake (ITB) decompression engine brake.

cuRSOR 8 The cursor 8 is available in 360 bhp with a vGT. It offers a cylinder capacity of 7.8L with 6 cylinders in line.

The SCR system is regulated by an electronic Control unit (eCu) that ensures compliance with regulations even under extreme climatic conditions – without affecting vehicle performance

Reduce emissions

The ScR reduces nitrogen oxides, optimises power unit combustion and reduces fuel consumption and particulate emission

Productivity

The ScR system increases the productivity of the Stralis with long engine service intervals and lower overall operating costs

PROTEcTING THE ENvIRONmENT cursor engines are fitted with ScR (Selective catalytic Reduction) technology for exhaust gas after-treatment. This ensures reduced emissions of particulate matter into the atmosphere. This system involves the use of highly efficient engines, a catalytic converter instead of the usual silencer and a special reservoir for the reducing fluid (AdBlue) – injected upstream of the catalytic converter through an electronically-managed dosing window system.

The ScR technology is designed to work throughout the vehicle’s entire lifetime.

It makes a particulate filter unnecessary, requires little servicing, and helps improve vehicle productivity.

This system brings benefits not only to the environment but also to anyone buying a Stralis: more power and more torque for the same cylinder capacity, lower weight, lower fuel consumption due to an increase in injection pressure, less energy uptake for heat dissipation and fewer oil changes for the same mileage.

STRALIS: THE PRODucT RANGE The Stralis range meets the widest range of application requirements. many variants are available: a wide range of wheelbases for the highest effective body capacity and final drive ratios selected for an optimum trade-off between maximum engine rpm and vehicle gradeability.

Structured around three engines (8, 10 and 13 litre cursor power unit), and three cabs (Active Day, Active Time and Active Space-Long) with two variants (Active Time Low and High Roof, and Active Space-Long Low and High Roof). The range offers:

• 4 x 2 Rigid• 6 x 2 Rigid with a rear lazy axle• 6 x 4 Prime Mover and rigid• 8 x 4 Rigid

For national routes, the product range offers the AS-L low roof and AS-L high roof versions.

For applications over medium to long distances and national routes, the range offers the Active Space-Long or Active Time model available with standard roof and high roof.

For short to medium range and urban transport, the Active Day and Active Time cabs satisfy the productivity and comfort needs of every driver.
