technology. The parts undergo no machining and are crafted at ultra-

high pressure for supreme enhanced density. Produced without harming

X-SHIP. A smoother, stronger, precision gear system. The X-SHIP precision gear system is used to make the very most of the

fighting strength of HAGANE Gears. By assembling Shimano’s latest

technology, including a large diameter drive gear to generate greater power,

optimized gear configuration, and pinion gear bearing point support, we

have succeeded in overcoming the difficulties

of achieving both power and smooth rotation

performance at the same time.

In reels exposed to extreme stress when playing a powerful fish, the reel

foot and the body must have higher rigidity to perform efficiently. The

lightweight metal HAGANE Body removes concern over shocks sustained in

harsh environments and eliminates power loss due to

deflection and twisting. The overwhelming strength of

the gear support maintains reliable performance that

High-rigidity Rotor. The powerful rotor effectively eliminates power loss. The rotor directly stops the power of big fish. This load can sometimes cause

a significant distortion of the rotor, resulting in excessive power loss. With

Shimano’s 3D analysis technology, the newly designed High-rigidity Rotor

delivers substantially improved stiffness with distortion reduced

by about 50%. The result is a smooth, efficient conversion of handle power

to raw winding power.

Coreprotect. 360° all-weather, water-resistant performance.Coreprotect heightens water-resistant performance,

while maintaining silky smooth rotation response. It

is Shimano’s water-resistant technology, Coreprotect,

that makes this possible. Water-repelling treatment

makes water form into droplets, blocking their entry

into protected areas. Combined with the flattened

interface of the body, it demonstrates unprecedented

water-resistant performance.

We have moved the worm shaft,

which converts the rotation of the

handle to the forward and backward

movement of the spool, to the top

of the body. Having the centre of

gravity of the reel closer to the rod

substantially reduces the perceived

weight.

The new large diameter stainless

steel bail arm is produced using cold

forging technology. This additional

diameter towards the line roller

increases rigidity and smoothes the

flow of line across the arm.

Using a new stopper bearing, with

a revised point of contact, achieves

substantially reduced friction. The

silky feel remains the same, but

the angler’s intention is conveyed

directly to the line.

The newly designed, large diameter

drag knob improves fingertip control

during a fierce fight. It enables

smooth, fine drag adjustment to

be made easily, even when you are

under pressure from a powerful,

hard-fighting fish.

Accidental bail arm closure during

powerful casts creates accidents

such as broken line. This is inhibited

by increasing the opening angle

of the bail arm, delivering assured

performance in all situations.

When I first tried the STRADIC, what appealed to me was the reeling sensation. If you wind it with

your eyes closed, it is so smooth you take it for a high-end reel. Because you can turn it easily

without any unnecessary resistance, you can sense clearly whether the lure is moving through the

water properly or not. You can focus totally on the interaction with the fish. That’s very important

for fishing. The STRADIC is also really robust and water resistant. I fish as much in a month as my

customers do in a year, so you can take it from me. It’s amazing that you can buy a model of such

high quality at this price.

When you go into the field, it’s best if you can take two sets of tackle. That’s because you can

then worry less about messing up and can enjoy fishing more actively. There’s nothing better than

experience for raising the level of your game at fishing. Fishing means visiting lots of different

spots, trying this and that, and pushing the envelope. That’s how you get good at fishing. Take

Strength is what I look for in my gear. Of course I’m going after big fish every time, so I’ve got to

have gear that maintains its initial performance, even after a lot of hard use. I just love the strength

of Shimano reels. They last much longer than other companies’ reels. So they’re really tough. I’ve

used several so far, but they’ve all been as reliable as the first one. The STRADIC also has the

same aura of strength. It feels like a new reel every time and I’m certain that it will always be good

to use.

Each new evolution in tackle gives rise to new techniques. It really brings out the sporting aspect

of game fishing. That’s why I want the coolest gear. I won’t lie. I love the STRADIC design. It’s

totally Spartan — like a race car. There’s nothing unnecessary to it. It’s refined down to the last

detail. And at this price, you can buy several … one for every application. One of the attractions

of bass fishing is that to maintain the offensive, you have to change your tackle according to the
