Product DesciptionSTR PLUS II® is the most recent model of STR’s concept for technical rescue stretcher family developed by TASK. The device is a flexible and versatile envelope stretcher for prompt use where it is not necessary to assemble webbings, straps, slings, auxiliary ropes or any other device for assembling, patient packing or to proceed any vertical rescue technique. This promptness allows a quick response for rescue teams in face of the protocols for a patient who needs a special support and protection when using the stretcher during a high angle rescue or a portable transport.

STR PLUS II® also presents the pioneer safety system DSS® – Double Safety System introduced by STR® stretcher family. The DSS® is a restraint system patented by TASK which integrates to stretcher’s structure a singular webbing set and buckles combining, simultaneously, a safety harness to secure the patient inside the stretcher and six side horizontal lift slings and a single top vertical lift bow for suspension at any configuration or angle during the transport. This solution prevents instability or a fall of the patient from the stretcher.

For an easy patient packing STR PLUS II® holds four high resistant polyester restraint straps with automatic buckles for quick fastening and loosing during operations.

The plate made by a flexible 3 mm width plate of a nontoxic HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) with excellent proprieties of mechanical, chemical and UV resistance, offers a high durability for STR PLUS II®. The plate presents a fine finishing which provides flexibility and stability at the same time and, furthermore, an antiallergic EVA foam pad to offer comfort and shock absorbing for the patient inside the stretcher.

STR PLUS II® design makes possible the safe accommodation of a spinal splints or spinal boards when, for medical reasons, is necessary to provide the patient´s immobilization when a spinal injury is suspected. A special configuration for assembling the DSS® attaches firmly the spinal board and still keep the patient safely protected when suspending the stretcher at any angle or technique.

The STR PLUS II® webbing set follows a color codification to identify their functions in such wise as to give a clear guidance to rescuers when preparing the stretcher, placing and packing the patient and suspending the device for the intended techniques of transport.

STR PLUS II® follows the traditional STR stretcher concept and is totally projected and prepared to place oneself with a patient inside in different angles of suspension through the

technique of STEF, a tilting system that can be used to shift the stretcher from the horizontal angle to vertical angle and vice-versa.

STR PLUS II® includes an adjustable foot support to rest and comfort the patient´s feet. This adjustable support prevents slides of the patient inside the stretcher, provides stability for the patient and reduces pressure of DSS® webbing at pelvic region of the patient when suspending the stretcher in a vertical angle for a longer period.

For techniques that is necessary a manual transport of patients by a rescue team, STR PLUS II® offers six polyamide side-webbing handles.

WHICH IS STR PLUS II® WARRANTY? WHAT DOES IT COVER?

STR PLUS II® is warranted for a period of one year against any material or workmanship flaws or defects. In the event of flaws or defects during this warranty period, please contact the manufacturer. The limited warranty does not cover damages due to transport, abuse, misuse, lack of care, improper use, negligence, ageing or accidents.

DOES STR PLUS II® OFFER MAINTENANCESERVICE? HOW REPAIRING OR REPLACINGOF COMPONENTS IS PERFORMED?

Yes. Any modification, replacing, repairing must be performed directly with the manufacturer, after a rigorous analysis. PEAD plate cannot be repaired. Once cracked, molten, contaminated, obsolete or presenting signs of excessive wear, the stretcher should be discarded.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO USERS PERFORM MAINTENANCE OR REPLACEMENT OF COMPONENTS OF STR PLUS II®?

No. Users are to uphold, preserve, check and use the stretcher correctly according to the limits established by the manufactures. Users must read and understand all procedures included in the UIM.

HOW MANY RESCUERS ARE NECESSARY TOTRANSPORT MANUALLY A PATIENT INSIDE THE STR PLUS II®?STR PLUS II® should be transported during a rescue by six rescuers or, in special situations, by four rescuers at least.

WHICH IS THE PROFILE OR QUALIFICATIONSOF STR PLUS II® USERS?

As STR PLUS II® is a stretcher for prompt use, it may be used by rescuers of any level of qualification. However is recommended submit all users to a previous presentation and training of the product. The stretcher is conceive to basic techniques of lifting or lowering, as well as, complex techniques, i.e., horizontal or diagonal transverse highlines, counterweight, pendulum, tilting or deflection guided rigging. For complex techniques, advanced training may be necessary.

IS STR PLUS II® ABLE TO COMPETE IMMOBILIZE PATIENT’S SPINE?

No. STR PLUS II® is a medical device for

transporting patients in high angle, low angle,

manual transport and dragging transport rescue

operations. STR PLUS II® offers optimal

immobilization but not complete. However,

immobilization devices may be easily placed and

used with the stretcher, i.e., spinal board, splint

board, head block, cervical immobilizer and limb

splits.

The STR PLUS II® design was conceived to receive

medical immobilizers when necessary, without

prejudice the DSS®.

WHICH EMERGENCY SCENARIOS STR PLUS II® IS USED FOR?All sort of technical rescue operations where is essential transport a patient with the stretcher in different angles (horizontal, vertical or inclined), attached in belay system for lifting, lowering or highlines. The emergency scenarios are, but not limited to, rope rescue, confined space rescue, collapsed structure rescue, urban rescue, mountain rescue, difficult access rescue (STR PLUS II® Tested and approved to overpass manholes with 500 mm width), military evacuation, manual transport and dragging transport.
