Storyboard for five minute production

SB1: This is the opening shot for the film, where Zoe walks through the door towards her classroom. This is a medium still shot facing towards Zoe to capture her walking through the double doors.

SB2: This is a bird’s eye view shot (still) of Zoe just after she has walked through the double doors and is almost at the door towards her classroom. We used the stairs above the classroom to film this angle shot.

Page 2: Storyboard for five minute production

SB3: This is an over the shoulder shot which is aimed over Zoe’s shoulder as she opens the door and enters. The reason behind this camera angle is to capture Zoe’s friends as they look towards her when she enters and greet her as she walks in to the room.

SB4: This is a still long shot of Zoe sitting down with her friends Dan and Alex (take note that other people who are in the class will be in the shot when we actually do shoot the production). The reason for the long shot is to capture everyone who is in the shot because at the time they are all in conversation, and the audience will need to see who is speaking to whom.

SB5: This is a panning medium shot (two person shot) that captures James as he walks through the door into the lesson. Zoe will be in the shot to the side so the camera captures her in the shot looking towards James. This will be a close up shot for Zoe but a medium shot for James all in the same shot.

SB6: This shot is also a medium panning shot that captures Elliot from where he left of in the SB above. The angle has changed to the other side of the room as it captures walking over to his chair (where his group of friends will be sitting).

SB7: This shot is taken very soon after SB6. This shot is a medium still shot which is aimed at James as he is sitting down (in real shot he will be talking to his friends). The shot will last for about five seconds. The reason for this shot is to give the impression to the audience that James is one of the role characters of the short film.

SB8: This shot is a panning (two shot) medium shot of the teacher has she enters her classroom. She will walk through the door and walk over to her desk where she will sit down to start the lesson. Zoe will also be included in the beginning of this shot (she will be to the side of the camera with a close up shot of her and the teacher at the same time will be shown through a medium shot)

SB9: This shot is a medium shot of the teacher after she has just sat down at her desk. It will capture her telling the class to settle down and open their text books. (Take note that the height of the shot will be taken from the same height as the desk, almost like a ground shot, and the camera will facing towards the teacher head on). The screen will then black out to give the audience the impression the lesson has started.

SB10: The screen is now becoming footage again from a black screen (this will give the impression to the audience that the lesson has just ended). The shot will be a medium still shot of the teacher at her desk from a side on angle telling the students in her lesson to remember about homework due in for next lesson.

SB11: This is a continuous shot from SB10 except the still medium shot starts slowly panning to the right (after the teacher has said her lines) to show students walking out of the door or towards the door.

SB12: This shot is taken from a high angle from the door of the classroom which is aimed at James as he walks towards the camera (door) when he walks past Zoe who is in the shot too (sitting down). Zoe will grab his arm to tell James that she needs to speak to him in private outside.

SB13: This is a medium still shot which shows James as he walks out of the door, Zoe follows behind him with a three- four second gap between them. The camera then blacks out to give the impression to the audience the impression that the location is about to change.

SB14: This is a medium still shot of Zoe sitting down (not the camera will be looking down on Zoe from a higher angle than she is). This shot is being used for the opening shot for the new location which is the woods behind Rotherfield blocks. Zoe is waiting for James to turn up.

SB15: This shot is a tracking shot, where we follow Zoe from a side on angle as she walks towards James who she has spotted walking towards her.

SB16: The shot has now changed to a medium still shot from a side angle aiming at James and Zoe as they meet each other in the middle. This is the shot that will be used to show their conversation that ends up turning into an argument because Zoe has just told James that she’s pregnant.

Page 9: Storyboard for five minute production

SB17: This is an over the shoulder shot from Zoe’s shoulder showing a medium shot of James in the background that is walking away from Zoe after she has just told him she’s pregnant; he also turns around at one point to yell abuse at her.

SB18: This shot is a close up shot of Zoe’s face just after James has walked away and yelled at her. She is looking upset but has to change her expression to a happy one when Alex and Dan walk towards her from her back; she turns around as they call out her name.

Page 10: Storyboard for five minute production

SB19: This shot starts of as a still medium shot of Zoe walking with Alex and Dan into the distance (town to get something to eat). The shot then becomes a still long shot when Alex, Dana and Zoe get far enough away. The screen then blacks out again to give the impression to the audience that the location is about change again.

SB20: The opening shot for this location is medium still shot facing towards Zoe, Alex and Dan as they are sitting on a bench by the river in Henley on Thames eating food and smoking. Alex and Dan are in conversation in the shot; meanwhile Zoe will be looking down at her shoes, looking upset.

Page 11: Storyboard for five minute production

SB21: This shot is a still medium shot from a side on angle at the same location as SB20. Dan is asking why Zoe is looking so upset, she doesn’t tell them about her being pregnant but does mention that her relationship with James is over. This starts a conversation about James between the three of them.

SB22: This shot is a side on medium panning shot that shows Dan, Zoe and Alex getting up from the bench and walking out of the shot to head up to lessons. The screen will once again black out to give the audience the impression that the location is about to change again.

Page 12: Storyboard for five minute production

SB23: This is a medium still shot aimed at Zoe who is about to walk into the lesson, Alex and Dan were in front of her and have just entered the room.

SB24: This is an over the shoulder shot following Zoe as she walks into the classroom. All the students (who will be there in the shoot) will look up from what they were doing and look towards Zoe, some of them would be laughing. Some of the students will be looking towards the whiteboard which in turn will make Zoe turn her head towards the white board.

Page 13: Storyboard for five minute production

SB25: This is a still close up shot of Zoe’s face where she has a shocked face on from what she has seen on the board.

SB26: This is a close up shot of the white board (that will have horrid words and images drawn on it that relate to Zoe being pregnant). This will give the audience the impression that this is what Zoe was shocked to see.

Page 14: Storyboard for five minute production

SB27: This is a panning medium shot that captures Zoe as she backs out of the room and runs out of the camera shot with her hands in her face to hide her emotions which are showing on her face.

SB28: This is a still medium shot that is facing head on towards Zoe as she is smoking a spliff.

Page 15: Storyboard for five minute production

SB29: This is a medium still shot of Zoe with her head in her hands from a side on angle.

SB30: This is medium still sill shot looking face on towards Zoe from a high angle. This makes it easier for the audience to see that Zoe is checking her phone for messages she has started receiving.

Page 16: Storyboard for five minute production

SB31: This shot is a still close up shot of Zoe’s phone. The reason for this camera shot is to clearly let the audience see the abusive texts that Zoe has received.

SB32: This is a still medium shot that turns into a still longshot as it follows Zoe getting up and walking away from the camera into the distance (out of camera shot). The shot once again blacks out tom indicate a new location is coming next.

Page 17: Storyboard for five minute production

SB33: This is a medium shot that isn’t over the shoulder but is following this student who is entering the toilet cubicles. He opens up one of the doors then the shot changes.

SB34: This is a close up shot of Zoe’s feet dangling in mid-air in one of the cubicles which is indicating to the audience that she hung herself.

Page 18: Storyboard for five minute production

SB35: This shot starts of as a medium still shot which is being aimed at crowd of students crowding around the toilets shouting for help and talking about what happened.

SB36: The camera shot then pans around from looking at the students gathered outside the toilets until it reaches James standing on his own with a look of guilt and shock on his face (knowing it’s his fault).
