Lesson 1 Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10)

• Jesus made his way toward Jerusalem, ministering in Judea and Perea.

• On His journey, He made a stop at JERICHO where He met a tax collector named ZACCHAEUS

ZACCHAEUS• Wealthy tax collector in

Jericho who was despised by the his fellow Jews.

• Tax collectors were known for cheating both the people and the government.

• He was short and could not see Jesus.

• He climbed a sycamore tree to get a glimpse of Jesus.

• The people did not help him because they saw him as a SINNER.

• He is not the only sinner WE ARE ALL SINNER. (Romans 3:10, 23)

JESUS• As he passed by, He stopped, spoke

kindly to Zacchaeus and He invited Himself to Zacchaeus’ home.

• Son of God, know everything

• The people were surprised that Jesus spoke to Zacchaeus and they murmured that He would be a guest in Zacchaeus home.

• The citizens of Jerico saw Zacchaeus as a sinner and they turned their back in the man because of sin.

• Jesus saw Zacchaeus as a man of of value and as one who had a

desire to change.

all my ways.

• Zacchaeus believed and had faith in Jesus.

• He was sorry for his sins and he now had a desire to please God.

• He promised to give half of his possessions to the poor and will return what he had stolen and pay back four times the amount of what he had taken.

LESSON• Learn how to LOVE the

person and HATE sin.• Jesus is there for

anyone who invites Him into his life.

• PUT ON THE STRONG BELT OF TRUTH-Always be HONEST
