story 1 - the adventures of max and mikey
TRANSCRIPT
London Zoo is the home of many wonderful animals. Today is a very special day for both Max and Mikey. The cheeky twins have been given a special giA for their 5th Birthday! They un-‐wrap the giA to find they have been given a football. “Ahhh yessss! I love football!” Said Max “So do I!” Replied Mikey
They played for hours and hours. They were having so much fun! Max made a goal out of two trees while Mikey tried to score against him. “What a Goal!” Screamed Mikey as the ball flew straight into the goal. Mikey ran around screaming and shouNng at the top of his voice. “Oh yes! You know I am definitely the best!''
Max got annoyed at the cheeky comment and kicked the ball high up into the air! As the ball liAed high into the sky, one of the Zoo's vulture’s ‘swooooooooped’ past and snatched the ball! “Oiiii! That’s our ball! Give it back!” Within seconds, the vulture was out of sight. The football was nowhere to be seen. “Come on Mikey, we have to get our ball back!” “Yeah come on, let’s do it!”
They both hurried to the top of one of the trees inside their enclosure. They managed to jump onto the surrounding brick wall and began their search for their treasured football. However, the twins had to be very careful not to be recognised by the humans, so they disguised themselves with a few pieces of clothing.
They first arrived at the elephant enclosure and spoke to Ned. “Hello Ned, we’ve had our football taken by one of the vultures and were just wondering if you had seen him fly by?” “Oh no really? No I haven’t seen him. He took my brand new teddy yesterday though! I couldn’t sleep without it last night. Can I come with you and help?” “Yeah what a brilliant idea!” “Okay, let me just go and ask my mum”
They then arrived at the giraffe enclosure and spoke to Gino. “Hello Gino, we’ve had our football taken by one of the vultures and were just wondering if you had seen him fly by?” “Ahhh really? That’s horrible! He did the same to me yesterday! He took my brand new scarf! My neck has been ever so cold. Can I come with you and help?” “Yeah what a brilliant idea! We’ve got Ned helping as well” “Okay, let me just go and ask my Dad”
They then arrived at the bear enclosure and spoke to Barney. “Hello Barney, we’ve had our football taken by one of the vultures and were just wondering if you had seen him fly by?” “Oh you’ve got to be joking? The exact same thing happened to me yesterday. I’ve just started learning the Nme and he’s taken my new watch! Can I come with you and help?” “Yeah what a brilliant idea! We’ve got Ned and Gino helping as well” “Okay, let me just go and ask my mum”
They had finally reached the bird enclosure where the vultures live. The five of them hid under a very tall tree so as they weren’t spo[ed. “Right, everyone keep an eye out for this vulture and everything that he’s taken off us.” Whispered Max. “Yeah okay” The others replied
Gino wasn’t taking things too seriously, he was hungry and eaNng leaves off the tree. “Ooo these are delicious! Mmmmm yummy! I want more...” He extended his neck to reach the higher leaves, when suddenly he spo[ed something. “Hey look up this tree now!” He said in a rather loud whisper.
There perched the vulture in a nest. In that nest was the football, the teddy, the scarf and the watch.
The twins had never climbed a tree this big. Slowly but surely they made their way up the tree and came face to face with the vulture. “Why have you taken all of our brand new stuff? We want it back!”
“Ahh I am very sorry... It’s just that... It’s just... I have no friends. I get bored in the bird enclosure. No one wants to be my friend. All they want to do is eat and sleep, whereas I just want to have fun.” Said the vulture sounding very upset.
“I tell you what, if you give us everything back, how about you come down and play football with us?” Said Mikey very kindly. “You really mean that? No one has ever asked me to join in games with them! I would love to!”
The twins grabbed hold of everything in the nest, wrapped the scarf around the vulture’s claws and hung on while the vulture flew to the ground. “Waahooooooooo” cried the Monkeys
