Introduction

The texts gathered here are the creations of students of different ages from our school. They worked under the guidance of their teachers – Mrs. Andrei Sorina Monica and Mrs. Fanareanu Beatrice, teachers of English – and being inspired by flight and by all the activities on this topic which had been organized as part of the Comenius partnership “From Icarus to interplanetary travels”. They either invented these stories or retold real ones in their attempt to share something with all their peers on the theme of the project.

The children from 5th, 9th and 12th grades were happy to take part in interesting and challenging activities and to learn about flight, about the human desire to fly and go beyond the human limits, about aliens and UFOs. They were inspired by all the project activities organised in the 2 years of the project and therefore their texts gathered here are fascinating and worth reading not only by children their age, but also by adults.

The book contains 3 types of texts: stories about aliens and extraterrestrial encounters with UFOs written by students from the 9 th grade, stories about unusual means of flight invented by students from the 5th grade and essays on the human desire to fly created by students from the 12th grade.

The book is available at the school library and all the students, even those who were not part of this project, have the opportunity to read these texts designed by children themselves and to learn about this wonderful experience of working together in a Comenius partnership.

Alien story

by Amuza Antonio Sabin

UFO sightings and alien encounters have been a part of humanity for thousands of years and science fiction stories about aliens have been told all around the world.

This story is about how aliens abducted a computer programmer in order to take control of the Earth.

Mike, a computer programmer, spent every day of his life alone in his tiny apartment. He worked from home and ordered food online, almost never leaving his chair.

One night, a fire burst from nowhere forced him to leave the building. The light was that powerful that he barely could see.

As soon as he stepped outside, he was abducted by aliens.

They took him to their aircraft where he was held captive in an exact duplicate of his apartment in order to create programmes that would give them the power to control the Earth.

The aliens had little knowledge of weapons, so instead they took control of the Earth’s telecommunications networks in their attempt to make humanity too bored to fight back.

Earth was left with nothing to watch and to play with.

Since that moment the humans have been communicating with each other via letters and face to face and have no access to media, social networks, TV or radio, it's like a return in the past.

An unexpected visit

by Carp Ionut Alexandru

May 2010. It was an ordinary evening, like the rest of the evenings in which I was coming back home, tired, after long hours spent at school.  Thoughts carried me away and my steps were quickly getting me home.

At a given moment, the sky strongly brightened up and I had the sensation that something looking like a spaceship landed on the roof of a tall building. Of course I thought it was just the result of my imagination, sick of so much banality that surrounded us and, ignoring the sensation, I continued my way home.

Later, turned out that I was not wrong, given the fact that some odd noises were soon heard from the direction in which I had seen an object landing.

Convinced by the idea that the evening was not going to be trivial, I decided to walk towards that place, although I was a little bit frightened.

Although I initially refused to think that the object was an UFO (unidentified flying object), as I was getting closer to the building, I was more and more convinced that it was an alien visit.

I cannot describe in words what I felt when I had in front of my eyes such a huge unseen spaceship.

I did not know what to do: to run and wait for the aliens to subdue the human race or to stay and try to find out what their plans were, though the image of a 9 th

grader did not inspire me a lot of courage.

Before I decided what to do, I noticed how the trap of the ship opened and two little green men with a heart-shaped head, large eyes and speaking an imperceptible language were getting out. By the way, they were having a conversation, I could tell they were pretty fiery and decided about what they had to do.

I have finally discovered their plan and decided to run from that place. When I got home, my mother greeted me with the news that some little green men had

Page 9: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

appeared on television having said that they wanted to submit the planet (deciphering the message was possible with the help of some device created by scientists).

It seemed that the people from Earth were prepared to attack them because they didn’t have only one device to intercept their messages. Thus, before the aliens began to destroy the Earth and kill people to populate it with their own creatures, there had been a person who was able to unravel aliens’ plans.

That person was Doctor Who, an expert in aliens. It was the first time I heard about this kind of specialist. Doctor Who suggested first to destroy the spaceship the aliens had traveled with because their methods of attack were linked to it. The problem was they did not know where the spaceship landed. And here my part in the story began for real.  I could not see myself as a hero, but I told my mom that I knew where that spaceship was and she made all the necessary calls for this to be found out by Doctor Who. The spaceship was soon found and destroyed entirely with certain weapons, which I could also not believe they existed in our world.

It seems that you cannot be all-knowing, but you can give a helping hand when you are able to.

Our planet was in this way saved by Doctor Who and I was awarded and publicly congratulated because I helped at the spaceship discovery saving the planet. In addition, I received a free week from school.  What (other) nicer prize can you get when you are my age?

I hope next time I will be able to find a solution all by myself against aliens’ invasion.

The UFO phenomena in Romania

by Radu Oana

What happened in September 23-25, 1978, not far from the cottage Balea Lake casuistry UFO remains as one of the most terrifying III-meetings around the world, as well as one of the rare cases in which people have been attacked by unknown entities. The victims, about 20 soldiers in a nearby cottage of former Balea Lake, were at the scene of the incident to perform some construction works in the area. It all began on the night of September 23, around midnight, when the cable car technicians in the area have been alarmed by the appearance of a bizarre red light, spherical, which seemed to contain the whole visual field. At the same time, the group of soldiers were at the cottage, and their leader Ioan Dorr reported the presence of an entity, with a height estimated at about 2-2.5 feet tall, which was about 8 metres far from the cottage. Everything lasted about 5-10 minutes, then both the light and the entity disappeared without a trace. The next evening, at about 9:45 p.m., sergeant Ioan Radu observed the same entity, which appeared about 20 meters far from the cottage. Followed by two of his colleagues, the sergeant came out to meet the 1-1.5 feet-suited creature, which was compared by later witnesses with a cosmonaut with clunky movements who was trying to hit him. The soldiers who were by sergeant’s side said later that at that time the entity made a sound similar to that of an animal, and Ioan Radu crashed to the ground losing his conscience. A few seconds later, the entity disappeared in the night "performing lateral jumps as if it would be floating on top of the Earth," if we believe the two statements of the soldiers. It should be noted that the witnesses categorically denied the presence of a bear or other wild animal. Sergeant Ioan Radu recovered after about 10 minutes of resuscitation and did not remember anything from the moment they had tried to attack the entity. But events did not stop here. On the same night, the soldiers heard someone trying to open the windows and shutters and scratching the walls and chains which they were connected with. In the morning, soldiers noticed traces of deep scratches on the walls of the cabin at a distance of 10 cm from each other, as if a giant hand with four fingers would have tried to break the windows and shutters.

Page 11: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

Terrified, the soldiers went to a cottage near the Waterfall Balea and didn’t return until 26 September, when they were accompanied by an armed officer. Later, the witnesses said they had seen some traces on snow which were different than those of the three soldiers. Their attempt to meet the entity again had no visible result.

The case was investigated by the Romanian army and many UFO-logists came to that place for parallel investigation, but without arriving to any result concerning what had happened that night.

Meeting an alien

by Sandu Catalina

It was a summer day. I was at home only with my mom and we decided to prepare a delicious blueberry cupcake. Since we didn’t have blueberries in the house, my mother sent me to the forest near our house to collect some to make the cake.

In the forest, while I was walking on the path, from behind a tree an alien jumped in front of me. I got scared and I started to scream. In that moment I observed his reaction and I realized that he was very scared too. I came closer. He was small and shaking. I talked to him saying my name “Ana”. What surprised me most was when I heard him speaking. His name was Flopsy. He was cute, small, very fluffy and pink and he had some very sweet and big eyes. After I calmed down, he started telling me how he got here: he was in his UFO, but he hadn’t known how to drive it, so he had pressed a wrong red button and he had been ejected from the UFO. Now he was alone and lost on our planet. Hearing the story, I felt pity for him and I decided to become friends. He was happy to have a friend on that strange planet and we both agreed to disguise him through a spell into a baby because he could not walk like this among people,

Page 12: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

with his strange appearance. Then I got home and I told my mother what had happened in the forest and I begged her to let me bring him home. She finally agreed. In the following days I went to school with him and nobody realized he was an alien. At night, he slept in the yard the way he did on his planet, because every evening he came back to its true appearance. We continued like this for a while and I even started to care about him. But all my beautiful evenings and all the follies that we did together were shattered on the night when the full moon, because on that night the UFO appeared and Flopsy’s family came to take him back. They thanked me for taking care of him, but they said he had to go home to his family on their planet. I was very upset because Flopsy was leaving me, but at the same time I was very happy as Flopsy found his family.

We remained friends and from time to time he comes with his UFO right above my house and we meet and talk and spend time together. One night I got even on his ship and visited his planet.

A strange dream

by Moise Andra Maria

I woke up. Nothing was like it used to be, it was strange, maybe even creepy. My bed was in another world, a different world from the one which I came from. Trying to move myself, I realized that my hands were bound of the bed's border. I panicked, all kinds of questions began to appear in my head. Where I am? I asked myself. What is happening to me? Why can't I move myself? I didn't understand anything and nobody came to tell me what was happening and why I was in this place. Everything around me was green and from the distance I could hear squeaky voices. They were coming closer and closer. Thinking that I could save me and come back home, I started to shout: Help! HELP! Is there anybody who can help me? And unexpectedly, next to my bed, two little green men appeared. They were talking very strangely, it seemed to be another language, but for sure, they were talking about me.

Page 13: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

I was scared to death, bound of bed and with 2 little green men, who seemed to be aliens, beside me. My chances to escape were minim. After a few minutes of talking, one of them came closer and said: “I hope you know why you are here.“ “I don't understand anything, I want to go home!““Are you scared?” “Obviously, why am I here?” “Ha ha ha! Look , everything is destroyed.” “What do I have to do with this? Let me go!” “You, you, stupid earthling, killed our queen, and after her death, our kingdom was destroyed.”“I didn't do anything, I want to go home!” Those were my last words. After 2 hours, I woke up in a room full of aliens who devoted to me. Nothing could be creepier, I was painted with a green colour and I had pointed ears. All of the greens began to shout: “Long live the queen! Long live the queen!” “Stop! I want to go home, I don't want to stay here anymore, I want my life back.” I shouted.“This will never happen, now you are our queen.”“I'm not a queen, I'm a teenager.”“You're a prisoner! You can't leave, now you are our queen and you will transform.” “No!” *ring-ring-ring* It was the alarm, I woke up and I looked around. I was in my room and I was relieved to realize that I had had the strangest dream ever.

The story of my life

Page 14: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

by Mihalache Daniela

Everything started with a simple curiosity…

Since birth, I have grown up with a different concept of family than most people do.  Instead of growing up into my biological family, I was adopted.  I have known this for as long as I can remember because my parents made sure to tell me so, at the earliest age that I could understand.  By adopting me, my parents showed that family means love, respect and sacrifice.

I don’t know why, but I always asked myself why my biological family gave me away, so I have started to search for them in secret. I believe that every adopted child does that, but I didn’t find anything, so I stopped looking for.

Now it’s summer and that means ‘two months of summer holidays at grandpa house’. It’s nice to spend time with him, he’s my last grandparent alive. Each day we discuss about different topics like love, friendship, forgiveness, success and desires and I love it. I admired him all my life! I admire his conviction, his principles, his dignity, well, I can say - everything.

One day my grandfather went fishing and took me with him.

It was a sunny day and everything was so beautiful!! But my grandpa was quiet and it started to scare me a little. Anyway, after a time he spoke with me.

‘I know that you’re searching for your biological parents and I want to tell you a story, but if I do so, your life will change forever! There won’t be a way of turning back.’ he stopped. When I opened my mouth to speak he interrupted me and said: ‘I’m your real grandfather and your real parents are dead.’

And it was true: from that moment everything changed, including me. I didn’t want to listen anymore, I didn’t even want to see him anymore, but he started speaking again.

‘I know you’re upset and confused but you need to believe me I’m really sorry, I wanted to protect you. Your parents worked for NASA. Your father was a great astronaut and your mother a great doctor. Everything started when NASA sent a team in space for scientific experiences. After 3 years, 2 agents came to my house and told me that they’d lost the contact with them after one impact with meteors, but I have never believed that, so I started to investigate, but the pain

Page 15: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

turned me into an alcoholic, so I gave you in adoption with one condition: to let me spend time with you.’

Since then everything changed but I believed my grandfather and I made everything I could to become like my father - an astronaut. I researched about that case and I successfully managed to go on a mission with the same destination.

After 2 months and 15 days in space, we found another planet. We never thought that it was possible to find another populated Earth, but here it was! Magical! A world of magic with people like us called FAIRY TALE and numerous other races, including Exceeds, dragons, celestial spirits, and giant beasts. A group of people made contact with us telling that earth-land is divided into ten different countries: The Fiore Kingdom, Seven, Bosco, Iceberg, Minstrel, Midi, Desierto, Joya, Bellum and the Pergrande Kingdom and they were the leaders. One of them invited us to speak at dinner about our trip in the outer space.

At dinner they told us that we couldn’t leave their planet anymore and that we’d live like everybody else because the rest of the universe didn’t ever know about their planet. They also said that other human beings from our planet were there.

One of us tried to oppose saying that we couldn’t survive there because we didn’t use magic.

In that moment one of them spoke: ‘Magic is an ability occurring in every individual for some races in Fairy Tale, although only 10% of Earth's population uses this magic. There are two categories of magic: magic that allows a wizard to use magic from their bodies and another magic that allows a user to cast magic with items. So you can survive.’

I couldn’t speak! All my life I believed that aliens were green ugly creatures!! But I remembered that they had told us about other people from Earth, so I said: ‘Tell me, tell me about the others!!’

‘They leave a happy life at west of Berllum! I will show you!’

To be continuedThe story of Zimbor

Page 16: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

by Grigore Ana

Once there was a small pink alien who lived in the universe of children on Kingera planet. He was a very cute alien because his head was round like a ball and his elongated body looked like a cartoon ghost. His name was Zimbor and he felt very lonely because he did not have brothers or sisters and his parents had died in a war when he was as small as a button.

Zimbor had never seen cartoons, eaten sweets, played hide-and-seek, jumped the rope. His planet was almost abandoned because of war and smoke was all over the place. Zimbor's only entertainment was to rummage through boxes and play with all sorts of curious objects he found there. One day he found an automatic Tickling which still had batteries. He laughed so much that he was in tears and a small spot of rust appeared under the eyes. So our alien discovered that his parents had designed a curious suit which protected and helped him survive the explosions of war.

In a store half destroyed Zimbor found a spinning machine. Some of its buttons were melted, but our alien used a screwdriver and made the machine smoothly rotating itself. He immediately sat in the seat, curious to see what would happen. The machine started to throw out sparks and Zimbor spun with so much speed that it was flying like a cannonball heading to a purple planet. The pink alien landed in a pool full of colourful balls. When he opened his eyes he thought he was dreaming. In front of him there were mountains of colourful animals, balls, trains and all sorts of strange machines which Zimbor had never seen before. He walked among the piles of toys, tested scooters, roller skates and motorcycles with batteries.

Zimbor believed that the flight was so powerful that he arrived in Paradise. In an office waiting for him there were Zimboros and Zimboriana, his parents, who had been killed during that war. The three hugged tightly and Zimbor learned that Paradise was actually on a planet called Earth and that children from there had a very important job that could be done only with toys: they played all day while their parents were using technology machines to manufacture them in their houses. On Earth children needed toy stores so Zimbor’s parents used their intelligence and built the most advanced toy store on Earth. Our alien was very happy and he played in the new toy store all day long.

Page 17: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

And he lived happily with his family.

Meeting an alien

by Davidoiu Alexandru

The night was cold, a thick fog hung outside, which I could see from my window. In the moonlight, the fog appeared like clouds descending on the earth.

How I wished I could go out and be amongst the clouds, but here I was trying to catch some sleep. My mother had just put me to bed wishing me sweet dreams, but sleep was miles away from me.

I was laying in bed, bored, changing TV channels and trying to find something to entertain with.

I found the movie Man in Black, in which Will Smith combines action with comedy. When I became too tired, I closed TV and thought about what would happen in the movie when suddenly I saw before me a strange-looking boy, with two antennas like objects sticking out of his head over a hairy body. His owl-like round eyes resembled the characters I had just seen from Mars. I screamed in fright, but he said something in an alien language and gesticulated with his hands, indicating that he meant no harm. I stared at him in disbelief, unable even to scream.

Sensing that I was frightened, he gave me a translator to put on my ears that would allow me to understand his language. I hesitatingly agreed and learnt that indeed he had come from a far away planet. He wanted to take me to his friends and show me his planet. I politely refused, telling him that I had my Math’s exams the very next day (and I informed him how much I loved it).

He talked about life on his planet, telling me that it was much bigger than our planet Earth, having its own solar system. The creatures from there did not

Page 18: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

eat, for they survived on noble gases that were in abundance.Seeing that I was impressed, he continued to brag about the superiority of his race. I got bored with it for quite some time. However, unable to take it any longer, I politely requested him to let me sleep, for I had to wake up early to attend school. He did not react well. Snatching the translator from my hand, he pointed his gun at me making weird sounds. When I saw that he was reacting violently, I started screaming: Help, Help, this boy from outer space wants to kill me!!” I suddenly felt a splash of cold water on my face. Opening my eyes I saw my mother peering down at me, “What’s the matter son?” she said. How relieved I was to realise that it was all but a dream.

And this was my experience with aliens, even if it happened in my dream.

The aliens from the cave

by Ciobanu Bianca

An incredible story happened at the beginning of 1880, right next to the Spanish town of Banjos. A group of locals, who were returning from working the fields, found shelter from the heavy rain in a cave nearby. To the astonishment of all, once in the cave, they found two strange children. The story says that these children had green skin and were much shorter than average. They spoke a strange language that no one heard. They uttered no words, but simply drew some strange sounds. Their wild green skin was covered with a metal suit protecting the whole body. The locals did not know what they were facing, but they took the two little ones to their village to offer them food and shelter.

Because they were not accustomed to the food on Earth, the children did not want to eat. The boy died a few days after he was found by villagers and the girl finally tasted the food provided by humans and survived successfully. In just a few months the girl began to learn speaking. Those two young aliens were from

Page 19: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

a distant world, where there was no sun to shine over the planets. They lived in a continual twilight, therefore they were fascinated by the extraordinary conditions on Earth. The girl-alien said that while being in their world, the two aliens had heard a very loud noise that had driven them into a sort of tunnel and going through the tunnel with incredible speed, they found themselves in the cave at its end.

A few years later, the girl-alien died too because it was almost impossible to adjust herself to the living conditions from Spain 1880. The origin of the two children remained a mystery till today, but this story will remain forever alive and hallucinating.

Polovragi Cave – our ancestors’ connection with the ancient aliens?

by Adrian Bacanu

On the shore of Oltet, in a pleasant dreamy landscape there is a cave looking like a black eye watching at us – the place where Zamolxis himself, the God-man so loved by the Dacians, lived. Called Zamolxis Cave, the karst formations in the mountains from Oltenia hide unsuspected secrets.

The name of the place has a particular resonance which gave rise to many interpretations. It is of Geto-Dacian origin and contains a still not deciphered cryptogram in itself referring to the religious beliefs and medical practices of our ancestors. It is said that Dacian sorcerers and initiates who knew how to heal illnesses gathered in that place. This may be related with the significant fact that precisely in this place there was built the Polovragi Monastery with its infirmary.

According to the legend, the holder of power - Zamolxis was able to change his appearance at will from young to old. The supreme god of the Dacians entered the depths of cave Polovragi to get over the mountains through direct secret galleries to the ancient city of Sarmizegetusa, the capital of Dacia. When the

Page 20: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

cave was explored for the first time about 100 years ago, people were amazed to discover human footprints dating back 2,000 years, no doubt traces of Dacian ancestors.

Dacian treasures hidden in Polovragi attracted lots of malevolent and greedy adventurers throughout history. The permanent temptation to subdue cavern by treasure hunters in search of the Dacian treasures makes the guides to find often the metal gates broken at the entrance of the cave. "Tourists" with metal detectors who remained without electricity got lost through galleries and never came back! It is said that the curse of Zamolxis guards Dacian treasures hidden here, and the place is not singular. All of them had tragic deaths in their reckless attempts to disturb the peace of the place.

It is said that the curse of Zamolxis has been watching the place for thousands years. Dozens of cases in history testify this: people tell stories about shepherds who were missing sheep and cows, about cowboys who lost their eyesight after seeing the forbidden place, about guests at weddings who saw disappearing drink and food from their table and became ill moving from fear to madness.

Paranormal enthusiasts call this cave the "Bermuda Triangle of Oltenia". An event worthy being noted is that Tudor Vladimirescu, a Romanian hero from the 19th century, usually went to pray around the Polovragi monastery walls. His remaining signatures in the monastery says the unofficial version of the story: that he wasn’t killed by Etaireia, as the history books teach us, but that he remained in the monastery to live disguised as a monk until the end of life, being an initiate of the time.

Another legend says that stalactites and stalagmites from the cave are formed from the tears that Zamolxes had shed after the Roman conquest of Dacia and they are still falling. This legend starts from the fact that on the plateau over the cave there was found a Dacian fortress. Legend says that there is a curse that prevents the treasure seekers to advance within the cave.

It is also said that sometimes lights can be seen in the cave as if it is on fire, but when people get there cannot find anything burnt. The main hall of the cave is impressive due to its vault and the red colour of the walls. Another curiosity is the leopard skin on the walls. These formations are unique because they can be found only in this cave.

Page 21: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

Zamolxis Cave (which is believed to break through the mountains to Transylvania) is recorded in the nineteenth century literature by travel writers, such as Grigore Alexandrescu (1842) and Alexandru Vlahuta (1901) who said that the place feels the visitors and rejects some of them. Above the cave there are the ruins of the old fortress Arcinna, marked by Ptolemy on his map, the famous geographer of Antiquity, the connection between the cave and the city of Arcinna being done through a secret gallery.

Local legends say that prehistoric Jews lived in the area, the giants from the Bible, who stood with one foot on a mountain and the other on another mountain and washed their faces in the Oltet river. There is a place located up on the mountains above the cave and called "Jew cattle market" comparable to the "Table of Jews" from the Sebes Mountains. Here it is believed that prehistoric people came and grazed their sheep.

Some "dolmens" were identified here forming "a prehistoric necropolis" and their graphic reconstruction showed the shape of "Polovragi Obelisk" - considered one of the prehistoric monuments of Dacia in connection to the other obelisks and pyramids in the world and the ancient aliens.

Aliens’ airport from Romania

by Coman Raluca

The area Colți is already famous for its stories related to the paranormal activity and alien spacecraft. In the oral tradition of the area there is at least some shocking information that confirm the existence of a true outdoor museum of the ancient astronauts. On the top of a hill in the village Bozioru, there are extremely strange rock formations composed of round stones looking like UFOs. Locals and early geographers were shocked when they first saw the rocks from Ulmet, which strikingly resemble Babele from the Bucegi Mountains.

Many legends from Bozioru speak about an old population of giants that were actually aliens and even about mysterious disappearances, and Ulmet-Bozioru is considered to be an airfield for UFOs, an argument for this is also the ridge

Page 22: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

behind the village which has strange shapes resembling petrified UFOs.

Alien stories appeared in the '80's after the mysterious disappearance of strangers who were enveloped in a bluish mist. People think that foreigners were punished after they dared to set foot in the mysterious lands of Bozioru.

Maybe the most famous UFO researcher from Buzau is Doru Davidovici, a fighter pilot and a supporter of ancient astronauts and UFO's. He treated in his book “Galactic Worlds” a number of theories on the existence and implications of extraterrestrial civilizations in the terrestrial world. Doru Davidovici observed with his own eyes the complicated evolution of a UFO on the sky somewhere in the south of Bucharest, observation confirmed also by radar stations in the area.

Electricians and bright field

by Carstea Mihnea

On the evening of November 10, 2001, a team of electricians were going home by taxi after working for hours to repair something at a broadcasting station in Amursk region. As they were approaching the town Anosovski, the leader of the team showed his colleagues a very bright object which suddenly appeared on the sky. The cab driver braked sharply because a shiny object like a fireball was rolling towards the car. The light was extremely shiny as a welding flame. The fireball approached the car and remained at 100 meters above the ground. It stood motionless for a few seconds then scattered into a lot of sparks into the air. Meanwhile in the city Anosovski electricity was interrupted for a few seconds. At that moment an artificial cold and dazzling light flooded the city. What happened?

It couldn’t have been a meteorite, first because a meteorite could not be so bright and secondly it couldn’t disappear suddenly and without any noise. And if the meteor had fallen, rest assured that they would have felt the ground shaking! However, the luminous sphere dissipated silently in the air. Could it be snow

Page 23: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

tonight? A comet that turned into a block of ice wouldn’t be gone so suddenly. What kind of energy must have had that mysterious object not only to illuminate an entire city, but also several hundred kilometres around it?

In this case there is only one possible answer: above the town Anosovski in Amursk region a UFO appeared from nowhere.

Aliens and spaceship

by Constantin Elena Mihaela

Stories about aliens are as old as mankind and each country and region has evidence of their existence. In 1950 the most famous alien story is confirmed by FBI in the USA. A strange memo proved that aliens landed in New Mexico before 1950.U.S Intelligence service has released thousands of documents about aliens and these stories expanded until today. Many people believe that aliens visit our planet repeatedly and are convinced that they have been abducted and taken by these aliens on their aircrafts and to their planets. While their testimonies vary, the only thing in common is the belief that the experience with the aliens has a strong impact on their lives. The story of Betty and Barney Hills started the craze about alien abduction. Under regressive hypnosis, which is the usual technique for discovering the truth on abduction, the scientists have researched a lot the lack of memories that followed after the couple Hills had spotted a UFO in September 1961.After being kidnapped and taken on a spaceship in the form of a disc, Betty Bills said they had received a ,,star map'' with marked commercial routes which included even our own sun. Some UFO experts believe that this is the info which certainly shows that the aliens’ home planet is in Zeta Reticuli system. But the stories do not end here. In 1996 in Russia a still alive creature was found that scientists considered it to be an alien, but the priests claimed that it was a

Page 24: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

demon. When the old woman found the creature, it was first considered a joke. Then it rocked the medical world saying that a gene discovered in its DNA samples did not correspond to any people on Earth. Tamara Prosvirina, the old women who found it, gave the creature a name: Aliosenka. It did not hurt anybody but after his death strange things happened. The old woman died in a trivial crash. Mark Mikhiker, an academician who had done some research in the area, died shortly after he came back to Moscow and the alien body disappeared without a trace. This creature had humanoid features and measured twenty two inches. The old woman took it home convinced that God send it as their own child. She kept it swaddled as a newborn. According to witnesses, Aliosenka didn’t have balls or navel. The head looked like a cap and it was composed of four plates tapering to the top. It had huge eyes that never closed without pupil and iris and a small opening as a mouth with two teeth that definitely were not designed to receive solid food. Therefore the Tamara’s food was nothing than milk sweetened with honey and tea. Its body was white and the joints had a different structure which made the arms and legs more flexible that those of humans. The local doctor Stanislow Samoskin performed a medical examination to detect the origin of the creature, but in the end he said it was neither of human nor of animal origin. In fact this was the first time the term ,,alien'' was used and the story was supported by lots of witnesses.Several photos and a film series were made about this creature and the doctor has collected and preserved a sample of tissue from the alien being. While the investigation was ongoing, the body disappeared absolutely without a trace in strange circumstances. The doctor said that the body was taken of researchers who were sent by Moscow to lift the mummy alien but those researchers apparently did not exist.

Dream or reality?

by Stanila Andra

One night a girl was driving home from her holiday in Romania.

On her way back home, she saw a light. Then she stopped the car and got out, driven by curiosity to find out what was happening. She realised that she was looking at a UFO. First she was very scared, but she wanted to see what creatures were inside. Those entities had two long antennas they used to transmit information. I got inside the UFO. Suddenly a green creature with long legs and a big head came next to her. The girl started to ask questions with a trembling voice because she was very scared.

The creature wanted to touch her, but she began to scream. In that moment she woke up and realised that it was just a bad dream. She went immediately to her parents and told them about her strange experience. Coming back to her room, she saw through the window a bright light, which was a sign that it had not been a simple dream.

What are UFOs?

by Barbu Raluca

The term UFO means Unidentified Flying Object and it is associated with the existence of aliens.

What are these aliens and where do they come from?

In my opinion, these so-called aliens are creatures who seek something.

Primarily, whether they come from other planets or not, some UFOs are definitely flying objects seen all over the Earth, which didn’t get an explanation yet.

Page 26: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

Secondly, the UFOs are not solid, but light and they can be created on Earth too.

On one side, the existence of life forms that visit us is exciting.

On the other hand, the idea is uncertain. Anyway enthusiasts continue to study past and present events.

In conclusion, whatever the truth is, UFOs continue to fascinate us until the mystery will be discovered.

The alien world

by Marinescu Mihaela

Did you know that some aliens may be friendly?

It was a beautiful spring day. I felt bored and I needed a ride, so I went out to walk. After I reached a secluded place, in front of me a different creature appeared. It was an alien. At first I was terribly scared and wanted to run, but that alien told me not to be afraid. We became friends and then he took me to his ship.

He told me a lot about his friends who wanted to destroy the planet. After I found out their plans, I got scared again, but then I realized he was not as bad as the others.

Then he told me that his friends wanted to come on Earth to find out as many things as they could about the human beings. They looked pretty much like the Earthlings, except that they had a very good hearing, advanced intelligence and they were faster than us. After he told me about them, I wanted to take him to a wonderful place to see how beautiful the Earth was. I started to get accustomed to him, and we acted as if we were good friends.

Page 27: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

He saw how beautiful our planet was and said that he would talk to his friends not to destroy the Earth. He said that he had to go home and that he felt a bit sad because he had a great time with me.We remained friends and he promised that he’d visit me again.

Alien life

by Aldea Alexandra Elissa

Alien life is currently based only on the assumption that the universe and life could exist where natural environment is not Earth. This concept refers to any type or life form, from the simplest biological systems to the most complex ones with their own intelligence and social organization.

Doctors and psychologists have studied as many cases as they could, testing subjects to provide a scientific explanation of the phenomenon from a bold premise: that meetings with aliens did not exist in reality but they are products of imagination of some people. But what can make people imagine something and retell such things in great detail? Sleep paralysis and various psychiatric disorders (paranoid tendency) were identified in many of the studies and other medical explanations have been proposed, partly supported by some violent behaviour, but rejected regardless of the specific psychology of those who reported experiences of this kind. What has always intrigued the researchers skeptical of these phenomena was that a large number of these stories have some common elements. Is it possible that the same alien race to have been the author of kidnappings that occurred over a half century, with almost the same pattern? Or is it possible an explanation in positivist spirit: that people imagine the same things due to some common features of the human psyche which predispose to the same kind of imaginary journeys? It's a fascinating hypothesis, an interesting field of investigation for psychologists. Could there be the "first cause" common to all people - something that has to do with the family in which they were

Page 28: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

raised or the school they attended or their experiences in life? Well, there is something common to all of us: the intrauterine life, ending with the birth, the transition to a different life. All people in this world have spent the first months of existence in the womb. And after a few months of life in the womb, all the people have left it to meet the outside world and this meeting is not smooth: psychologists talk about "birth trauma", the fact that going out of the uterus and entering the outer world from the mother's body can be a brutal experience for newborn babies, which can leave deep consequences to those having a fragile psyche. People don’t remember consciously the birth and the trauma associated with it, but that does not mean it leaves no traces in our psyche. This idea made the scientist Alvin Lawson develop his amazing theory on so-called abductions: the stories were based on our own memories of the womb and its painful end – the birth trauma. It's a controversial but fascinating theory: a true descent into the abyss, a journey into the deepest mysteries of the mind, where we keep without knowing the memories of our life before getting in this world. In most histories of kidnappings, subjects described "entities" present (alleged aliens) as having humanoid appearance, with a large head, large eyes etc. very similar, in the opinion of the author, with the appearance of a human embryo of about 2 months old. He assumes that the embryo, then the human fetus might have a perception of their own body, a "self-image" even in intrauterine life, and this memory is reflected in how adults describe their later experience as "kidnapping". A common theme often present is "a tunnel" through which the kidnapped reach the ship above them - sometimes described as a tunnel of light, suggesting that the fetus must traverse it to get out of the mother's body. Another interpretation depends on how they recount experiences: some subjects say that they were captured and attracted by a light beam to the alien ship, caught and swept inside. This could be an analogy with the umbilical cord, the way the fetus is related to the placenta –the same way through that tunnel or beam of light it establishes a connection between the subject and the alien world. Going through the tunnel to the alien ship, subjects reach a large space lit with flashing lights which are sometimes surrounded by several humanoid beings looking at them and examining their body. Many describe invasive procedure through the umbilicus or at least a feeling of pain or pressure in the belly. Alvin Lawson identifies here an obvious correlation with the stage in which the infant out of the mother's body gets into the delivery room, brightly lit, where medical staff handle it and examine its body. Eventually, the umbilical cord is caught in forceps and cut - perhaps an unpleasant experience both physically and

Page 29: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

mentally, even if we don’t remember afterwards. A number of interviewees remember metallic sounds very likely in a delivery room, where most of the children come into this world.

What remains a mystery - even the author of the theory admits - is that we do not know why some people relive the birth trauma as an alien abduction. How these images are formed in the fetal brain during fetal life and birth, how they are revived during hypnosis, under the influence of drugs or spontaneous awakening during sleep – all these are questions still waiting for their answers to be discovered.

In conclusion, the "alien abduction" is regarded by Professor Lawson as a subjective experience, with deep roots in psychology and culture. So-called people abducted by aliens unconsciously use their own experience from the birth process as the matrix for their so-called imaginary abduction experience.

Journal of an alien

by Alexandra Zanfir

After the first human adventure, we chose to land in an unpopulated area from Europe.

I walked away from the ship and started to look carefully at the environment. When I returned to the ship we have not found it. I should mention that I had some misunderstandings and a small scuffle with lasers because of a colleague of mine who always look where the ship was parked. For now I have the job of parking the ship. After the fight, I found the ancient ship with GPS system - luckily that I got it with us in case we would have needed it. Our ship was in the midst of nomadic horse-drawn cart and the nomads were trying to dismantle it. When they saw us, they took the carts and began to fight us. I do not know what they were looking for, but have not found and were upset. They screamed at each other and then took sharp metal weapons and cut us to pieces. When they

Page 30: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

saw that our limbs were growing back, they rejoiced and began to cut us frantically, repeating the word "sell". When I saw that they did not give up, we boarded the ship and flew from there. Unfortunately we had to return to bring a female of their race who we had brought to our ship earlier. Amazingly, their females had the ability to swallow everything: in five minutes, strongly coloured female managed to swallow three quarters of ship equipment and tripled the volume of the lower part of her body.

Out of caution, I landed from a height, but nothing happened.

Meeting the Earthlings

by Alexe Andreea

Today I forced the landing in a forest on a continent called Europe inhabited by Earthlings. While the rest of the group tried to repair the ship, I went out in search of life forms. We hoped for them to be evolved enough that we purchased from them food and fuel.I found some humanoids who lived under pieces of rock, were wrapped in wild animals skins and gathered some wood pieces to warm themselves. The intellect of these beings is compared to that of an embryo of us, but being forced by circumstances, I stayed with them that night. After it got dark, earthlings lit the fire and brought fried fruits and animals. They said this was their food. We were not sure if our digestive system could handle something so primitive, but we were forced to eat it: we were stuffed full of pork neck, legs and sheep. Then we sank ends in barrels with a red liquid. They were happy to gain weight, but I just shot from the high amount of "food" and "drink". Standing around the fire, hominids began to behave strangely: they moved in all limbs, in a disorganized way. One of them got "drunk" and started to hit me in the head. He seemed to enjoy my scream because others laughed and they followed suit. A baby humanoid took a piece of iron and cut my leg. Seeing that my member grew back, they got upset. We had to run. We hid in the river, and after the brutal beings fell asleep, we returned to our ship, we fixed it in a hurry and we left never to come back.

Breathing like an alien

by Toma Florin

One evening I was walking in the park with my parents and my little brother. Suddenly my dad told me to go home and take the dog for a walk and my mom said my brother should come with me. They added they would wait for us in the city centre.

When we arrived in front of my flat, I sent my brother upstairs to fetch the dog and I remained outside waiting for him. The time was passing, but my brother didn’t appear with the dog, so I imagined something bad had happened. I rushed upstairs and I found my brother trying to put the leash around the dog’s neck. Puffy, our dog, was very agitated and it didn’t want to get out under the bed, no matter how much my brother was trying to convince it.

Puffy was usually calm and friendly, but now something bad was happening. I finally managed to catch the dog and my brother and I left the flat. While descending the stairs, we suddenly heard our neighbour screaming: “Aliens, aliens come here, it’s the end of the world!", but everyone knew how crazy Mrs. Bulbuci was because of her old age, so we didn’t pay too much attention to her words. My brother and I started to laugh at her while walking to the city centre where we were supposed to meet our parents. When we got there, our parents were also upset because of our belated arrival, but finally we had a good time in family.

While we were walking home, actually right in front of our flat, there was an earthquake and we got terribly scared. It lasted for 12 seconds and many people got out of their houses screaming and shouting. One minute later, the sky made a flame and some yellow dots started to appear on the sky just like stars at the beginning, then increasing their dimension while getting closer. My brother started crying, the dog ran away and car alarms were howling terribly. I had the feeling that the end of the world was coming. All people were looking at the sky and in an instant everybody understood that those growing yellow dots were UFOs, alien spacecrafts which were trying to come dangerously close to the surface of Earth. My father thought it was a dream and he slapped his own face in the attempt to wake himself up.

Page 32: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

People got scared and tried to run away, but at some point the electromagnetic waves sent by the UFOs made them unable to walk or run, so nobody moved, just looked in terror at what was happening. From every spacecraft, many aliens got out and came down to Earth. They were scary with their creepy faces and thin bodies and the arms and legs were covered with a green sticky substance. Their smell was awful too. All of them were wearing some masks and tubes on the back - for breathing obviously. Suddenly they removed the masks and tried to breathe the oxygen from Earth, but after some endless moments they put their masks back and shouted in a desperate way that the air from Earth was not good for them. When all aliens put the masks back, they returned to their spacecrafts and in just a few minutes they disappeared from our sight, as if they had never been here before.

We were able to move again and to talk to each other about the encounter we had just witnessed. Our conclusion was that the aliens had been looking for a planet with breathable air for their species, but our air was not good for them. We were relieved to understand this and from that moment we decided to take good care of our planet.

Extraterrestrials

by Ionita Diana

It was a beautiful summer morning. Sarah had just woken up and she was enjoying the heat and warmth flowing in the air. Suddenly she heard a strange noise from the garden. As she was heading towards that place, she saw an odd means of transport. It looked like a spaceship. Just when she got close, it exploded and in front of her eyes there was a small green creature which introduced itself. He said that he was coming from a far away planet and that he and his brothers were trying to repair their spacecraft to get home, but unfortunately they couldn’t. Having heard the alien’s words, Sarah called her friends and together they fixed the spaceship. The little creature then flew back to his planet, waving happily his antenna and hands towards his friends.

Magic Christmas

by Tewes Eric

It was a beautiful winter day.

Alex was a very intelligent boy with a great heart. His only wish for Christmas was to spend some time with his mother who had been working abroad for a long time. He missed her a lot because living away from his mother was very painful. He could communicate with her only using the computer.

Three days before Christmas he realized that he was fed up with his life without his mother, so he decided to make something great combining the magic and joy of Christmas with the new technology and his intelligence. Therefore he built 2 rockets with jet engines in his yard and he attached them to his Christmas tree. Moreover, he added a comfortable pillow to sit on during the journey and some reserves of food.

He kissed his father goodbye, then he got in the new built means of transport and took off immediately in order to go to America, the place where his mother had been working for so long.

First he flew past my house with his special Christmas tree with jet engines and he waved goodbye to me as well, saying that he was going to his mother from America. I was amazed to see what interesting means of transport he invented!

He continued his journey and on Christmas Eve he arrived in America where he met his mother. They were very happy to see each other and they felt the Christmas joy and happiness for real.

This was the story of a child who loved his mother so much, that he invented a new means of transport to travel to a distant continent in order to spend an unforgettable Christmas with her.

The Flying Sled

by Enache Alexia

Holidays, especially the winter ones, are a delight for the two cousins Alina and Bogdan. They decided that after the Christmas spent with their parents to make a surprise to their grandparents.

They live in a small, welcoming house, that is now covered with the white, puffy snow.

The whole village is covered in the sparkling snow.

Immediately after they arrived, the grandfather took them to a big, red sled that he prepared especially for his grandsons. The children were delighted by the sled given as a present by their grandparents, especially because from the toboggan run they could hear the happy calling of other children.

`Bogdan, let’s put wings to the sled! We’ll go down with such a speed, that the wings will help us to fly above the snow!`

The grandfather told them to look in his tool house for the necessary stuff for their plan. They found two wooden boards that they cut in the shape of two wings and, with the help of their grandfather, they put them on the sled.

Alina and Bogdan, with rosy cheeks and being watched by the other children, embarked on the flying sled. It seemed that even the snowflakes stopped to see that amazing sled.

`We’re flying! It’s a dream come true!`, said Bogdan.

The whole air filled with the abyssal joy of the children. That was how the two children got their wish that they dreamed about for all their lives. One thing is certain: surely, we’ll always find something fascinating at our grandparents!

My Dream

by Ghencea Alexandra

One hot summer day I went to my father to see what he was doing.“Hi, dad! What are you doing?”“Hi! I’ve tried to fix our car but it does not work anymore!”“Oh...” I went into the living room to watch TV. There was a documentary about Holland. While watching I was wondering what I can do to go to Holland. Suddenly, I had an idea. I went to my father’s garage. I took the old car’s engine and some tools and I tried to fix it onto the couch. I also made a remote controller in order to start the engine and I waited for my parents to go shopping. As soon as they left, I took a map and I sat on the couch and started flying. I was hoping to get to Holland and that was exactly what happened. “I am here!” I told to myself. I stepped down and went to a fun fair. After I had visited the wax museum, I strolled on the streets, among the scented flowers. It was so beautiful.......that I could hardly leave, but it was late, so I had to go home. After a long, tiring trip I got home right before my parents. It was such a pleasant, beautiful experience that I would always repeat.

The Fulfilled Wish

by Draghici Andrei

An elf found a baby quail with one broken wing. The baby was looking, with its eyes full of tears, for its mother and siblings that had already flown to warm countries, because it could not do that anymore. Then, in the elf’s heart appeared the desire to help the wounded baby get to its family. The elf built a flying object to stay with the quail baby. The elf wattled a nest and tied some sails with rope. In this way they flew over seas, oceans, cities and saw wheat fields sprinkled with red poppy, fields full of flowers and mountains with fir-tree woods. You could see joy and hope in the eyes of the quail baby. They got off near a spring and they quenched their thirst, and the elf picked wheat seeds for the baby and fruits for himself, then they continued flying, delighted by the wonderful sights. After a few days, they got to warm countries and they found out from the dovetails where the baby’s mother was. The elf took the baby to its family and this was a wonderful surprise. Seeing them so happy, the elf was satisfied that he fulfilled his wish and that this was a good deed.

Bianca’s Wish

by Grillo Alexandra

This story is about Bianca, a 9 years old, little girl. She lives with her parents in a nice home, in a small town from a beautiful country with high mountains, vast plains bathed by the waters of the sea. Bianca loved the stories told by her grandmother, especially the tales with fairies. She thought that the fairies were magical creatures that helped people while they were sleeping, when the people wanted to do good things but they couldn’t do it by their own.

The little girl wished so hard for the fairies to exist. One day, when she was at her grandmothers’ and she was playing she decided to go to the attic and look for toys among the old stuff. While she was looking through the things: old boxes with toys, old furniture and all kinds of other things, she suddenly saw, in one corner, a brightly coloured carpet that she didn’t notice before. Bianca took the carpet; she put it on the floor and told it to lift up. Unbelievable! The carpet really lifted up because it was a magic carpet that could take her anywhere she wanted. Bianca really wanted to go to the Fairies’ Land. The magic carpet took her there as fast as lightning. Bianca saw from above a wonderful country. Silver mountain tops, forests as green as emerald, plains with perfumed flowers and enchanting lakes and rivers.

The magic carpet left her in front of a castle that only in fairy tales she could imagine they existed. It was wonderful! It had lots of towers and gardens full of flowers unseen before.

Bianca went down the castle’s stairs. There, she was expected by many fairies, and the most beautiful among them told Bianca:

`Welcome to our country, Bianca! We saw the magic carpet flying and we thought that a guest is coming from far, far away. We are happy that you came and you believed in us! `

`Thank you! I am so glad to meet you, to be here. My wish came true!`

`I am Alysia, the queen of fairies`

`You can visit our castle and country! You can come to us any time you want!`

`I am so happy that I can visit your beautiful country!`

And, that was how Bianca’s wish came true and now she has a lot of friends.

An Unusual Flight

by Vintila Adina

Since I was a child, I wished I had a house in Paris, right next to Eiffel Tower. I was wondering “How am I to get to Paris?”. An idea came to my mind: <<my grandparents have a windmill they do not use anymore, so I am going to use it>>. I decorated it as I wanted. And I also remembered that my father had been in Paris to work with his plane. But I needed help to make my idea work. I asked my friend, Maria, to help me and she said: “You have such a crazy idea! How did you come up with the idea of flying with the windmill?”. I told her: “Well... you know that the helicopters have a propeller and in the same way the windmill has this wheal that looks like a propeller!” “But do you realize how much it will take to build your idea?”, Maria asked me. “You know....I started building long time ago! If you are not interested I am going to find somebody else to help me!”, I answered her without taking into account her thought. Now, I was thinking “Whom shall I take in this trip?” . I went to my best friend, Carmen. She told me: “Oh, I really do not know what to say....I think that I may join you in this crazy trip.” “How wonderful! Come by my house and I’ll show you the place where we have to continue our <helicopter>!”, I told her excited. Carmen was amazed by what I had done. It took us a lot, but we managed to finish it! We were very glad that it had worked. My dream came true! I flew by Eiffel Tower with the windmill with my friend!

A Dream Fulfilled

by Suciu Teodor

Soft snow flakes were falling slowly in the silence of the night. Nothing seemed to trouble the beauty of Christmas Eve’s night.

In the warmth of the room, the Christmas tree was sparkling gently, waiting for the presents. I was waiting for them, too! I was even more impatient than it was...But, even though I tried to keep my eyes wide open as hard as I could, they closed slowly, slowly...In my dream, Santa, with his white beard and sparkly blue eyes, shining of happiness, invited me for a walk.

`Are we going by the sled, Santa?`

`No, it’s a surprise!`

I got out of my bed and I went away wearing only my pyjamas. In front of my home there was the most beautiful steam train. It was red, new and anxious to pull the three green wagons.

`Where are we going?` I asked being surprised.

`We are taking a walk!` answered Santa putting his hand on the horn. `All aboard!`

I jumped in and I sat near the window. The train flew straight through the puffy clouds up to the blue sky that looked just as a velvet curtain with diamonds on it. The thick clouds couldn’t let me see much, but my attention was suddenly drawn by a bright, shining star.

`What’s that?`

`It’s the Christmas Star. It appears every year and I take it and place it upon the Christmas tree form the North Pole. This year I want you to put it on the top.`

I reached for the star and I got it. Even though it was big, it wasn’t heavy and it was covered in gold.

Santa pulled the train near the biggest tree I’d ever seen. Its top pierced the clouds. After I put the star on the top of the tree, Santa patted me on the shoulder.

Page 48: Stories written by Romanian students inspired by flight

`Well done!`

I wanted to say something but the pat on my shoulder was so strong that it changed into a shake. It was my mother.

`Come on, wake up, Santa came with presents!`

I ran to the Christmas tree and there was the most beautiful train in the world, with a red engine and green wagons.
