Happy Memorial & Fathers DaysNotes from the President: Hello Everyone!!!

On Saturday April 25th & Sunday April 26th we held our 12th Annual Trout Tournament with summerlike temperatures of 92 degrees both days. The event is our biggest fund raiser and turned out being our 2nd

best year. The crowd was estimated at about 1200 on Saturday & 800 on Sunday. We sold so much food &drinks that we had to replenish for Sunday. It was also the best year ever for the Chad Kern MemorialBucket Raffle with a lot of merchandise supplied by our local businesses. We will thank these businesseswith a certificate and list to be supplied to our members.

I am also very proud of our 56 members & community service volunteers who made our tournamenta huge success. A very heartfelt thank you goes to all of them. We are blessed to have all the support wehave had from the Norristown State Hospital & their employees. They allow us to use their buildings &grounds to hold a very large event. Also cudo’s to the Norristown Farm Park & Employees for all thehelp. They supplied picnic tables and their John Deere Gator which was a big help.

Let us not rest on our laurels. I am putting the Club on notice that a lot of our help are getting old, wornout or retiring. So it’s a good time for new blood to jump in and do a small part so we can continue in this bigfundraiser.

We have purchased a 20’ x 24’ shed with garage doors thanks to the efforts of Member Dave Highley.He has stoned it and we put it in place. We need to run electric to it and some minor alterations whichincludes shelving and lofts to store our canopies, chairs & tables. It will also house our lawn tractor and anew six wheel John Deere Gator which we are receiving a grant for thru Senator John Rafferty. It willalso house all our gear so we don’t have to go to 4 different buildings to get them.

The Norristown State Hospital patients fishing program will be held on Thursdays at 6pm on May 21st

& May 28th and finish with a pizza party at the Nursery on June 4th. If we have bad weather the Pizza Partywill be moved to Building #1 auditorium.

The Nursery will shut down for maintenance by June 5th for 5 or 6 weeks getting ready for the newfingerlings. We will hold our 6th Annual Open House from noon till 4pm on July 19th at the Nursery. Asusual food and beverages will be provided. We are still waiting for a delivery date on the fingerlings so thisdate could change.

We just concluded our annual Boy & Girl Scout fishing weekends. Troop # 267 camped at the Nurseryfor the weekend. We had 2 locations. The Meadow Bridge & High Arch Bridge were stocked heavily. A lot ofnice trout were caught.

We received a $500.00 Grant from the “HERB GATHERERS” from which we purchased a 26 Gallonpowered Tank Sprayer with a 15” hose and a broadcast sprayer. We will buy flowers & bulbs with theremainder of the Grant.

On Saturday July 18th at 8AM we will need help with our Adopt –A Stream project. We will meet with KarlLutz, Habitat Manager from the Pa. Fish & Boat Commission at the High Arch Bridge “Rain or Shine”. We willprovide lunch to all Volunteers. Please bring chest waders, hip boots, old sneakers & cut of jeans or shorts. Wewill be in the water. Come on out for some fun!
