Pastor’s Pondering… A warm welcome to… Holly Bailey Holly Bailey is spending June 3 through August 10, 2018 in the Watertown area as a seminary intern. She is one of three who will be in the area as part of an internship program sponsored by First Presbyterian Church Watertown, The Presbytery of Northern New York, and Samaritan Hospital. All three interns will be spending 20 hours a week at the hospital and 20 hours a week at a local Presbyterian Church (Stone, Sackets Harbor, Dexter, Chaumont, and Evans Mills). Also, each will preach once at First Presbyterian Church, Watertown. We at Stone Presbyterian Church have the honor/privilege of having Holly with us from June 3 through 27. Holly will be present on Sunday, June 3 helping in worship and attending the picnic. She will be preaching June 10 – 24. During the week along with preparing for worship on Sundays she will shadow me. Also, Holly will lead a three week noon time Book/Bible Study on Wednesdays. (see article about that). Holly is from California. She is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in English and Religious Studies. She just finished her first year at Princeton Seminary. Her interests include creative writing and photography. She is drawn to the area of Spiritual Direction. Her favorite movie is “It’s a Wonderful Life” and her favorite book is "The Brothers Karamazov" by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Currently a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Holly is exploring becoming a Presbyterian and going through the ordination process. This internship is meant to be an opportunity to explore parish ministry and help Holly reflect on her sense of call and future pastoral identity. In the words of Rev. Melodie Long, who is their Field Education supervisor… Finally, thank them, love them, pray with and for them, let them know you are invested in their growth as a pastor. As your pastor, I know you as a congregation can and will be a great “teaching congregation.” I look forward to having Holly be with us. Bazaar News—2018:

Save the Date: Saturday, October 13, 2018

Help Wanted: 10 am—2 pm for our Annual Bazaar

Our Annual Bazaar will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 10 am—2 pm

Help Wanted

It is an all church event and help is wanted and needed in all areas. If you are unable to help all day, any time you can give to help will be appreciated. Even if you cannot help the day of the bazaar, there are plenty of areas you can help with in the days and weeks leading up to the event;. Please don’t hesitate to ask and don’t be shy about signing up! Everyone’s time and talents are useful and appreciated.

Sign-up sheets are on the counters in Friendship Hall.

Raffles

We will also be holding our expanded raffle again this year. Items to be raffled can be gathered and arranged in anything you might want to incorporate into your “theme”. “Baskets” can be made up on your own or as a group (ie family, etc.). Some ideas for baskets might be: basket for bakers; baskets of books; coloring books, or toys for children; or even a coffee and tea lover’s basket in a large coffee can or tea pot. Have fun gathering items and getting creative. This was a very well received event last year.

Plan Now

It may seem early to be planning for the Bazaar but with summer and vacations time will fly by and October 13th will be here before we know it.

We are looking forward to working with everyone on this event.

Thank you all in advance for your help and donations.
