“We’ve made considerable changes and improvements to the house over the years,” continues Clive.“Early on we created a second sitting room

“The original four-bedroom house was just four years old when we bought it 32 years ago,” recalls Clive. “We liked its stone-built character and its situation in a nice village with a good pub, which was very well placed for access

The property occupies a central position within the heart of the village opposite the parish church. Emberton is a pretty village situated just south of the market town of Olney. Within the village is a parish Church and the Bell and Bear public house. It is perhaps most celebrated for Emberton Park - a lovely public space, ideal for family walks, fishing and sailing. The Clock Tower at the crossroads at the heart of the village is unique. It is said the name comes from the old English word meaning Eanbeorht’s Farm, but in the Domesday Book the village was called Ambretonn. Records of 1227 show it was called Emberdestone.
The nearby picturesque market town of Olney is within easy walking distance, where can be found an assortment of the shops and restaurants in the market square which forms the heart of this thriving town, with Milton Keynes and Northampton providing more extensive shopping and
leisure facilities.

Olney also benefits from its own sporting facilities including active tennis, rugby and football clubs. Emberton has its own primary school and Olney also has infant and junior schools, together with a brand new secondary school campus. In addition there are dedicated coach services to the renowned Harpur Trust Schools in Bedford. The location also allows access to Swanbourne, Winchester House and Great Houghton prep schools and the public schools of Stowe, Rugby, Oundle, Uppingham and Oakham to name a few.
Emberton is in a central location in the country giving excellent access onto the motorway network from Junction 14 of the M1 motorway. Main line commuting services to London are available from Bedford to St Pancras and Milton Keynes to London Euston (fastest train 35 minutes). Air travel is available locally from Luton and Birmingham with Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted slightly further afield.
