Dear Parents,
Our first Stokers School Market was held on Saturday 15th June. Lots of stalls, buskers and
fun activities were the highlight of the day. Thank you to all who attended and also a big
thank you to those who helped set up and pack up. We raised an outstanding $500.20 which
will help us buy our new Interactive Whiteboard for the library. Three cheers to our Small
School Big Family and our local and wider community!
Holidays
Please remind your children about Stranger/Danger as there have been recent reports about
attempted abductions. This time it was in the Kingscliff area.
Term 2 concludes on Friday 28th June and we return to school on Tuesday 16th July
2013. Have a wonderful break and we will see you all next term!
I will be away on leave the first 2 weeks of Term 3 and Mrs. Dickson will be relieving
Principal. I will be joining my husband Alan in Thailand.
STUDIO PROGRAM
We always welcome parents and members of our wider community into our Studio. You can
share your talents or just be there to support the students in their chosen projects. Studio
days are Tuesday. Please come along for a look. You can also catch up with what your child has
been doing on the website: studio.figjamit.com.au You will need to use your child’s password
or apply for your own onsite. Thank you to our long standing parent helpers.

Vanuatu School Visit Thank you to those families who kindly donated school supplies for my visit to Ekonra School
Vanuatu. This school is located in Epau Village, 60 km from Port Vila (the capital of Vanuatu)
and in desperate need of any school supplies. On our arrival the students and teachers were
very excited to see us, as they didn’t know we were coming. The Principal Morris was
overjoyed to see the supplies we donated, these supplies included exercise books, coloured
pens and pencils, glue sticks and lots more vital supplies. Thank you again to those families
who helped with donated items.
Kind Regards.

Griffith University Visit
On Monday, Year 6 went on excursion to Griffith University
Gold Coast for the “Launch into Life” program. This day gave
students insight into University and the many career options
that are available to them. The students had a great day and
participated in Health, Science, Drama and Physical activities.
The children really enjoyed the excursion and all agreed that
they found the day very inspiring.
Dream Big Year 6!
K/1/2 Prop for Stewart House Concert Students from K/1/2 will need to bring in a yellow ‘rubber duckie’ early
next term for singing rehearsals. This prop is needed for the
performance at Murwillumbah High School in Term 3 for a combined choir
item. Please label the bottom of the duck with the child’s name and send
to school (Mrs Shimizu will collect them and keep at school for
rehearsals).
Thank you.

CANTEEN CLOSURE
Canteen Roster Volunteers
Due to the lack of volunteers there will be
NO CANTEEN next term until further notice.
It is with great regret that the P&C are taking this drastic action.
Without the profits from the canteen our school would not have been
able to provide additional funding for school excursions and the purchase
of recourses. Over the past 5 years the canteen profits have enabled the
P&C to subsidise all school excursions, including bus and family subsidies,
to provide the food for the all school camp at Hosanna in 2012, the TV in
the office foyer, the brand new SLR Canon camera for digital art in the
studio, new BBQ for functions, the shade marquee used at all sporting
events and vital resources such as readers and computer equipment in
every classroom. The closure of the canteen will also jeopardise the
P&C's ability to subsidise any future funding for school excursions.
Please contact Nicole or Gloria at school if you can help us next term
in Canteen. New helpers urgently needed!
