On Saturday (24th July) the doors to the park pavilion will r e-open as it becomes home to Stock At The Pavilion — Congleton’s newest informal eating and drinking experi- ence. With backgrounds in the r estaurant industry, marketing management and interior design, new proprietors Lisa Whitehurst and Louise Probert have refurbished the landmark building to create a relaxed but vibrant environment that is reflected in the food and drink. Louise said: “We have re-designed the interior to emphasise its original features while creating a quirky, com- fortable and social environ- ment where people can feel right at home.” Both women are committed to making Stock At The Pavilion accessible to eve- ryone and are in discussion with Congleton Community Projects to promote its use as a communal space. “The park pavilion was originally built as a venue for local residents to get together at dances, family celebrations and community business meetings,” said Lisa. “It was always at the heart of Congleton life and that’s where we believe it still belongs.” Upcoming events include a Spanish celebration, bar- becues and live music. The venue will also be available for private and corporate hire with full catering and meeting facilities provided. Woodcock’s Well Primary School’s sports fortnight culminat- ed in a sports day on Friday, 2nd July. Children from every year group raced for their team in sprinting, skipping, egg and spoon, sack and relay events. During the sports fortnight some year three and four children from the Mow Cop school took part in a tennis tournament organised by Congleton Town Lawn Tennis Club. The mini Murrays came away with a certicate having won some of the matches. Meanwhile, the year six children spent a day learning about road safety while cycling. They took their bikes out onto the road and each gained a Bikeability award. Key stage one children took part in a sponsored bounce while key stage two children did a spon- sored skip, in aid of the British Heart Foundation. A school spokesman said: “With an excellent turnout of family and friends everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day and was delighted with the good weather and team spirit generated by the children.” Attention to details is the mark of qualified, helpful staff.
