Instructions for Sweet Pea Sensation Quilt
Finished Size 196 cm x 196 cm
You need:
• Woven cotton or linen – for 25 stitch outs which will be trimmed back to 21 x 21 cms.
• 1 m of color A quilting fabric
• 1 m of color B quilting Fabric
• 60 cm of color C border fabric (if it is 150 cm wide)
• 1.7 m of color D border fabric (if it is 150 cm wide)
• Batting - 2 x 2 m.
• Fabric for back of quilt – 2 x 2 m.
• Rayon or polyester embroidery thread
• Pre wound bobbins or bobbin thread to wound your own bobbins
• Stabilizer for backing while embroidering designs.
1. Stitch every design in Sweet Pea Sensation Large Sets 1 and 2, including the sample design so that you
have 25 stitch outs. Trim each stitch out back to 21 x 21 cms.
2. Cut colors A & B quilting fabric
Cut 50 squares each of colors A and B each 12.5 x 12.5 cms. Cut them across diagonally and stitch them
together in pairs and stitch around each embroidery block. Trim each block

3. Join Blocks Together – now it is just a question of hard work, meticulously joining the blocks together.
First lay them out to decide what position each block should be, then sew together in rows, finally joining
your rows to each other. Here is how I arranged the blocks:
4. Apply border colors C & D
Cut strips of border fabric 10 cm wide for color C and 20 cm wide for color D and stitch round edge of
quilt.
5. Apply batting and quilt
Layer with batting and pin. Stitch in ditch of 25 embroidery blocks and stipple the two border layers.

6. Trim excess batting
7. Apply edging to finish off
Prepare a strip of fabric to stitch around the edge of the quilt, pin right side to right side, machine stitch,
then finish off by hand stitching at the back.
