STILL IMAGE ANALYSIS

Page 2: Still image analysis

IMAGE 1In the purge trailer, they use a mix of a high angle and an establishing shot. They use these to show the local area that they live in to show where the film is set. This is conventional for a horror film trailer as they show that it is set in the family’s house which is conventional for a horror film. The high angle shot shows the whole area which you can see is a very rich area. With the storyline of the film it could mean that people would come to this area as the residents have a lot of money. It also shows that is a quiet and peaceful residentially area. This is conventional as they are trying to set the storyline and make it understandable.

This editing technique is very affected as it helps set up the storyline showing how bad this event that the film is about is. The montage shows violence and weapons which are conventional for the horror film genre. The weapons and violence connotes danger and fear which are conventional scary words. A montage also allows the audience to gather a lot of information about the film and help them understand the storyline.
