Getting Started with Sticky Moodle

Once you have put your sticky Moodle into the USB port, double click on Open folder to view files:

You will then see the following, double click on

Click the maximise button

On the left hand side of the screen, you will see and area for logging-in, just below you will see the

following text:

Use the scroll bars to move down to read all the text.

You will notice at the top part of the text box you have user name and password.

Use these to log into the Sticky Moodle, as shown below:

Click logon when complete

You may also notice the following box also:

This tells you that the Apache Server, which runs Sticky Moodle, is running.

Do not click any of the buttons in this box at the moment.

When you click , you might see the following screen, click NO, to not save the password.

After what may be minutes, you should see the following screen:

When you logon you used the default password which is admin246. Now will be a good time to

change your password. At the top right of the screen you will see the following:

Click on the words Admin User

You will now see the following screen. Click on the button, as shown

below:

Click Change password

You will now see the following screen. Enter the default password admin246, and a new password.

Then click on as shown

below:

Write your new password down as you will need it in the future.

You will now see the following screen, click on the button, as shown below:

Click Save changes

Click Continue

Congratulations you are now logged and ready to create a course.

Creating a course

The first thing you will need to do is to Turn On Editing, do this by clicking the

button, as shown below:

You will now notice the screen has changed to show additional content.

If you scroll down to the bottom for the screen, you will see the following:

Click Turn editing on

Notice the two new boxes that have now appeared, as shown below:

To add a resource to your site click on down arrow next to the Add a resource box, as shown:

From the drop down box choose Insert Label, as shown below:

You will now see the following screen:

Click on the down arrow

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and you will now see the label you created has now been added

to the course. As shown :

You are now going to add another resource, click on the drop down box next to Add a resource, as you

did earlier. This time click on Link to a File or Website, as shown below:

You will now see the following screen:

In the box labelled *Name enter the text, Moodle and NLN materials, and in the next text box enter

From the next pop up box, click on the word Choose, next to the file, as shown below:

You will now be returned to the Moodle Screen, if you scroll down to the bottom of the screen, you

should see that the file you upload is now shown. As shown below:

Click Choose

Click Save and return to the course

Activity One:

Follow the previous steps and two more files from the desktop, Flintshire E and Interesting Moodle

Links.

Flintshire E is to have the name: Flintshire E-Community Zone

In the text box add the following text:

Viewing your resources

If you would like to see have your resource will look to a user, click on button, which

can be found at the top right of the screen, as shown below:

If you scroll down to the bottom of the screen, your course will now be shown as the following:

Changing or editing your resource

If you would like to change a resource you have added, turn editing on again, as shown below:

Scroll down to see your course at the bottom of the page and click on next to the resource you

want to change, as shown below:

Add the following the text in the summary box:

The successful integration of an open source Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) in Deeside College as

a result of using the NLN Materials

Highlight the text and using the tool bar change the font to Arial 12pt and the font colour to blue, as

shown below:

When you have finished the changes, scroll down to
