ceo'smessage
The story of STFA began in 1938 when two young engineers, Sezai Türkeþ and Feyzi Akkaya, established a construction company specialising in bridge construction and piling operations in Turkey.
Their vision was to pioneer innovative engineering practices using world-class standards and to apply those practices in Turkey as well as abroad. This vision became reality at the beginning of the seventies. STFA was the first Turkish company to operate internationally, first in Libya and then in many other foreign markets. From a bridge and piling construction company, STFA evolved into a total engineering and construction solutions company with five independent specialised business units, enabling STFA to bring integrated solutions to the most challenging projects. These units are:
Energy, Oil & Gas
Marine
Civil Works
Foundation Engineering
Engineering and Management Consultancy
Today STFA is the oldest Turkish international construction company and it is proud to have contributed to the development of the countries in the Mena region; enhancing the social, cultural and economic scope.
STFA's mission is to sustain its position as a leading construction group in the MENA region. STFA aims to be the company of choice by delivering projects on time, within the set budget and in high quality - creating value with human intellect and modern technology.
A lot has changed in the world of engineering and construction since STFA was founded but the key ingredients to STFA's success in the international markets have remained the same. Which are;
passion,
commitment,
inspiration,
continuous innovation, and
hard work.
Thanks to these values STFA now boasts of over 350 projects worth US$8.7 billion all over the world.
In such a highly competitive market, STFA has sustained its competitive advantage because of its flexibility and ability to adapt to the constant changes in customer needs and market demands.
STFA excels in;
Finding alternative solutions in design and engineering, resulting in more efficient budgets and project completion times.
Redefining who we are and identifying areas of specialisation - with a dedicated focus on private sector customers, or EPCs. Rather than acting as a general contractor, we a new concentration on EPCs, leveraging our local and technical know-how.
The STFA's structure today mirrors these shifts in strategy, with its five independent business units providing STFA with the flexibility, specialised know-how, a most competitive cost structure and the fast response times required by its customers.
STFA feels certain that it will continue to have even more impressive achievements in the future as well as providing outstanding contributions to the communities and the environment.

foundations
The founding partners of STFA, Sezai Türkeþ and Feyzi Akkaya, believed that a solid education
is the backbone of a prosperous society. With this principle in mind and in their efforts to
contribute to the world of education, they established two educational foundations precisely
to help in the future of their country.
The Inanç Foundation was established in 1990 by Sezai Türkeþ and his daughter Tomris
Taþkent for the purpose of providing free education for gifted but economically
disadvantaged children. The Inanç High School was established by the foundation and
opened in 1993. Inanç High School's mission is to promote the academic, social, emotional
and physical development of each student in order to prepare them as leaders. In 2002 Inanç
high school was donated to Turkish Education Foundation.
Feyzi Akkaya founded the Feyzi Akkaya Temel Education Foundation in 1978. The foundation's
principal purpose is to train intermediary technical staff. The foundation accomplishes this by
granting scholarships to students seeking training in Technical and Vocational High Schools in
Turkey. The foundation also contributes to the Ministry of National Education by building
schools and providing educational equipment. The Feyzi Akkaya Temel Education Foundation
grants approximately 3,000 scholarships a year.
