About This Pattern Compendium

Stevie’s Wish Upon a Star was designed to honour the upcoming birth of my granddaughter. Her name is Stevie and she is due towards the end of April 2020. She will be a sister to Neave. Neave is the reason my design career started back in October 2016. Included in this compendium:

A square version of the throw pattern

A rectangular version of the throw pattern

Patterns for 3 different granny squares which complement the throws. o Galaxy Fantasy o Milky Way o Southern Cross

A Flat Braid Continuous Join tutorial and a border pattern

Square Throw This pattern is based on a traditional large Granny Square. The finished throw will measure around 120 x 120 cm (47 x 47 inches) (assuming you work at the same gauge and use similar materials). There are 4 different stitch combinations used in this pattern: Block Stitch Milky Way Starry Nights Shooting Stars

Each of these stitch combinations is worked over 3 stitches. This makes it very easy to adjust the size. You can simply add or subtract rounds to achieve your ideal size. Bear in mind that adjusting the size will impact on the number of repeats shown in the pattern and the stitch counts. Here is a picture of a smaller version as an example. This throw finished up at 92 x 92 cm (36 x 26 inches) and was made using ColourSpun Ombré Stack Purple Grapes with White as a contrast color:

Rectangular Throw As mentioned above, this pattern is also included in the compendium.

This version measures around 140 x 120 cm (55 x 47 inches) (assuming you work at the same gauge and use similar materials). Here are some pictures. Both of these were made using ColourSpun Ombré Stacks with White as a contrast color:

Bonus Photo-Tutorial A bonus photo-tutorial is included as part of this pattern compendium. This is a Flat Braid Continuous Join Tutorial. This can be used to join all kinds of squares, including the bonus squares mentioned above. The tutorial is available in both right and left-handed versions.

The Shooting Stars border pattern is also included as part of this tutorial.

Video Tutorials There are NO video tutorials for these patterns. The world is currently engaged in a battle against Covid-19. I am in isolation 13,262 kilometres (8,241 miles) away from home and my video recording equipment. Rather than delay the release of the pattern I have decided to go ahead without the video tutorials. Apologies to those of you who cannot work from written patterns.
