STEVE’S LIFE

Born in February, 1955 in San Francisco, California, us . Steve was an adopted child He did schooling from Los Altos City Graduated high school in 1972 Enrolled in Read College in Oregon. He dropped out after

one semester. Returned to California in 1974 and was red as a

technician for Atari. Attending meetings at Wozniak’s Homebrew Computer

Club. Then Steve convinced Wozniak to work with him building computers.

Job’s name their company – “ APPLE” in memory of a happy summer he had spent as an orchard worker in Oregon.

STEVE AND APPLE

April 1st 1976 Steve job’s invented Apple computer. Apple’s first sales – The Byte Shop, a local retailer.First single board computer with built-in video interface. First Macintosh- January 24,1984. Apple went public on December 12, 1980, Steve market value jumped from $ 7.5

million to $217.5 million. Apple 2 designed in the following year.

Most investors turned Apple down. Retired Intel executive Mike Markkula decided to invest.

Markkula become chairman of Apple in May 1977. Become publically traded company in 1980. Launched LISA in 1983. First commercial computer to use GUI. Unpopular due to its few software programs and high price. Sales began to plunge.Wozniak quit Apple in 1985. Board of members of Apple met on May 28th 1985 and each voted on the removal of Steve Jobs from the company. At 30 Jobs, however, was fired from the company he co-founded with Steve Woznaik. He left the company after losing a bitter battle over control with Apple CEO John Sculley (whom Jobs had recruited from Pepsi Cola)

STARTING ALL OVER AGAIN...

Steve jobs decided to start his own company. Founded “NeXT” computer in 1989.

NeXT turned a profit for the first time in 1992. NeXT software needed to be made more reliable and compatible for consumers. Company slowly starts going downhill.

PIXAR

Steve job’s started Pixar. Pixar, however was a success story. The company started the first computer-animated film, the TOY Story and when Pixar's stock went public an instant billionaire. “Pixar animation studios "and the first Oscar make job popular. On January 24th ,2006 , Disney bought out Pixar for $7.4 billion.

“Quality is more important than quantity. One home run is much better than two doubles.”

WHAT A COMEBACK...

Job’s old company, Apple was under immense pressure from rival Microsoft and in 1996 posted billions of dollars in losses.In December 1996 Jobs convinced Apple to buy NeXT and makes its software the foundation of the next-generation Mac OS.The technology he developed at NeXT became the catalyst of Apple’s comeback. Steve Jobs was named Apple's interim CEO in1997.

“THINK DIFFERENT”

In early 2000, Pixar leads animated film industryLater that month, Jobs announced his return to the CEO position. Insisted on keeping his $1 annual salary. Although his salary was low, the company granted him ten million shares of Apple stock worth hundreds of millions.After a year iTunes was released, Apple released the iPod for Mac users and for Windows users as well. In eight weeks, 5 million songs were sold on iTunes. Took over 80% of the legal music downloading market.

CHANGES IN STEVE JOBS LIFE

June 6th , 2005, Jobs announced switch from PowerPC chops to Intel chips. This would conserve energy on power book and iBook.

In 2007 Apple introduces iPhone, 3G iPhone, first of its kind in the market.

In 2009, Jobs goes on medical leave

In 2010, Apple introduces iPad.

In January 2011 Jobs goes on second medical leave.

In Aug 9, 2011 Apple briefly become world’s most valuable company.

In August 24, 2011, Jobs resign as Apple CEO Post.

In October 5, 2011 Jobs bids ‘Good Bye’ to the world.“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else’s life.”

1984 – National Medal Of Technology. 1987 – Jefferson Award For Public Service. 2002 – Apple won a technical Grammy Award.2007 – Named the most powerful person in business by Fortune magazine 2007 – Inducted into the California Hall Of Fame 2010 – Named The Person Of The Year in the FINANCIAL TIMES. 2011 – Graphisoft company was presenting the world’s first bronze statue of Steve Jobs, calling him one of the greatest personalities of the modern age. 2012 – Grammy Trustees Award
