The concern for the transfer of sterile products in a protectedenvironment is finally resolved. Perfectly hygienic, KÄNGURUH-SYSTEM® is made from stainless steel. Totally ergonomic,KÄNGURUH-SYSTEM® avoids breakage, with 4 elements: an air tight shuttle cabinet, a sliding rack for baskets and/orcontainers, a flat trolley for loading/unloading and a fixed basefor storage.

Drain outlet with removable bucket support

HUPFER® has developed wet benches for the washingand disinfection of contaminated products. The worksurfaces are made entirely from stainless steel, withanti drip edges. The rear of the work surfaces alwaysincorporates a splash-back. The standard height of these benches is 900 mm, but it is always possible to make them at differentheights.Several sizes of sinks appear throughout our catalogue according to your particular requirements.All sinks are completely fully welded and rounded

to facilitate cleaning. We can also supply you with all the taps and plumbing accessories.Below the work surfaces we can equip the furniturein the form of a compartmented cabinet or provideshelves. Particular care is taken for the protection of drainageif necessary.We can also fit out storage in the form of drawers.It should be noted that all of these accessories aredelivered with parts made entirely from stainlesssteel.

The trolleys consist of two round tubepush handles, 25 mm, between which arewelded moulded shelves. An all roundraised profile rim of a large radius eliminates dirt traps.

Baskets

The HUPFER® container tray combines the mesh tray andcover in one product. The special design and the patented(DBGM) closing set effectively prevents any slippage whenthe tray is closed.HUPFER® container trays can be stacked on top of eachother. The closing set provides for ease of handling in every-day usage and ensures maximum security for the instru-ments. It is a fixed component of these trays and lies flushagainst them – the packaging material remains undamaged.

As the HUPFER® system solution, we recommendthe sterile items baskets which can be stackedinside and on top of one another, 1/2 StU and 1/1 StU are available. They are manufactured from stainless steel.

Made from "continuous wire", the HUPFER® baskets have a smooth finish.They do not present any risk of tearing paper and they assist the circulationof the sterilising agent due to the large mesh.

The continuous wire technique used by HUPFER® is unique of its type.The fact that the wires are welded together at the base of the basket andunder the upper crosspiece avoids any risk of roughness which could damage the paper and injure the users.

Our baskets always have an opening which forms a handle, gripping them is easy, they are stackable, can be fitted on all the supports and can even be attached by the base.Our baskets are standardised, and therefore can be used in all types of autoclaves.

Our experience in the field has led us to develop a concept of shelving which is unique of its kind: the MEDIDUL system.

This is a totally modular concept of shelving made from stainless steel which can complement aconventional shelving unit or can be arranged independently.Its key idea is to use the advantagesof the wall-mounted supports (storage at a defined place) andthose of conventional shelving(heavy loads).

"Fields" are created so as to be ableto arrange baskets and/or containersindividually on two types of slides:- L-shaped profile where the

PRINCIPLEThe KÄNGURUH-SYSTEM® is composed of four distinct elements which ensure all the distribution and recovery:

• An air tight shuttle cabinet.

• A sliding rack intended to receive baskets and/or containers.

• A flat trolley which is useful for loading and unloading the shuttle.

• A fixed base situated in the sterile areas for storage.

The distribution of sterile material and recovery of soiled material are the two most important themes for those responsible for sterilisation. HUPFER® has developed a unique and innovative concept which makes it possible to meet these two fundamental requirements whilst guaranteeing the maximum ergonomics. The KÄNGURUH-SYSTEM® guarantees the separation of these two phases. The sterile products which are to be distributed are never put in contact with the soiled products which are to be recovered.Only by keeping to these two types of transport by closed air tight cabinets can the rigorous application of hygiene standards be guaranteed.

Closed transport cart

The cabinet is produced for the distributionand the transport of racks in a non-sterilearea. Manufactured entirely from stainlesssteel, it is completely welded. The doors are provided with a peripheralseal which guarantees a perfectly cleanatmosphere in the interior. A peripheralbumper protects the interior from all thecommon shocks. The doors can be keptopen during the loading and unloadingphases by a locking system.On request, the shuttle cabinets can beequipped with specific wheels for passingthrough a washing tunnel.The interior is planned so as to receive theinsertable racks in total safety.The shuttle cabinets can be equipped withdocument supports which do not retainwater and with various other options onrequest.

During the phase of transfer of a rack, the transfer trolley is solidlysecured to the shuttle cabinet so that this task can be carried outin total safety. There is no risk on the rack falling. This manoeuvre ismade without any effort on the part of the staff.

Putting a plinth in place enables a se-paration to be physically established between the clean sector and the con-taminated sector. In this case, the secu-ring of the transfer trolley and of theshuttle is made directly over the plinth.

The securing system is integrated into the bumpers of thetransfer trolley. Simple pressure of the hand permits thetrolley to be released from its platform or from the shutt-le to which it is secured.

Chamber, the transfer cabinetThe creation of this fixed transfer cabinet advances thewide range of uses of the KÄNGURUH-SYSTEM® evenmore. After the sterilisation phase, the rack completewith sterile products will be transported into the shuttlewhich is located in the interior of a fixed cabinet. Oncethe doors of the shuttle, as well as those of the fixedcabinet, are closed on the clean side, an electric sensorindicates on the soiled side that it is possible to open thedoors of the other side in order to extract from it theshuttle filled with sterile products. The distribution to thedifferent departments can commence in conformity withthe strict hygiene standards. It is obvious that such afixed transfer cabinet can also be installed in the region ofthe operating theatres.

The phase of transfer of the racks to the clean zone can alsobe carried out by placing the shuttle cabinet in the interior of a fixed double-entry cabinet. (The shuttle cabinet having to circulate in a soiled part with its clean contents).

In the soiled area (once the doors of the cabinet are closed in the clean part) the doors open and it is possible to extract the shuttle with its sterile contents.

CJD Transport trolleys

CJD Transport trolleysfor holding and safe temporary storage of contaminated surgical instruments!

Background: Creutzfeld-Jakob-Disease (CJD) is caused by extremely resistant, infectious proteins (prions).Therefore, for patients suspected of having the disease and for those patients already diagnosed, it is preferableto use disposable material but this is not always possible. In order to prevent this disease from being passed onby non-sterile, reusable instruments, the instruments which have come into contact with infected human tissuemust undergo a special treatment process.

Germany complies with the recommendation of the Robert-Koch-Institut for the preparation of medical products,which states that instruments used in neurosurgery in a suspected case of CJD must be cleaned manually in2-molar sodium hydroxide solution or in a 2.5 – 5% NaOCl-solution, disinfected and temporarily stored for 24hours. This is followed by vapour sterilisation at 134°C for a period of one hour.

In this process, instruments can be temporarily stored in the sodium hydroxide solution and the contaminatedliquid drained into plastic disposal containers in the CJD transport trolley both safely and without taking up space.

Use of appliances – usage and benefits

The CJD transport trolley is found in the operatingtheatre and is used for holding contaminated surgicalinstruments in 2-molar sodium hydroxide solution andstoring them for 24 hours. The stainless steel containersare filled with sodium hydroxide solution up to level ofabout 15 cm, so that the instruments placed in the perfo-rated trays are rinsed completely with liquid. The draintaps are closed.Before taking the trolley away, the basins are coveredwith lids. At the end of the 24 hour period, the contami-nated liquid held in the stainless steel containers can bedischarged into the standard disposal containers under-neath. For this purpose, the drain tap nozzles can be fit-ted with hose pieces which can then be removed and dis-posed of together with the disinfectant in the container.The CJD transport trolley is used for temporarily storingthe contaminated instruments safely prior to sterilisationand makes it easy to dispose of the disinfectant.

Advantages and benefits in overview

· Manufactured from stainless steel. · The upper structure includes 2 removable

stainless steel basins (530 x 325 x 200 mm, 28 Litre capacity per container) with a 1/2" ball valve welded on to drain away the liquid.

· Each basin includes a removable mesh tray made of stainless steel wire and with

drop-down handles.· Containers are closed using a stainless steel

lid with a silicone seal all around.· Each basin includes a removable mesh tray

made of stainless steel wire and withdrop-down handles.

· Lower structure contains a flat stainless steel basin which can be removed for cleaning purposes and serves as a storage surface for standard disposal containers.

· Wire racks are provided on the side for holding the stainless steel lids.
