Looking Ahead

Sept 21 Guest Speaker & “Next Steps” Session Leader

Bob Perry, church luncheon Sept 28 Morning Worship with BLEND in Concert Neighborhood Picnic with BLEND in Concert

A vibrant and living journey with Jesus Christ never ends. True for individuals. True for congregations. As followers of Christ we are in a constant state of becoming. If we pay close attention to the way Jesus encounters people in the Gospels, we find him doing the same thing again and again. He meets people right where they are,

but then with grace and power, He beckons them to more. He bids them (regardless of who they are, or where they’ve been) to follow him to

the next step in their adventure of faith. If we know nothing else, we know this: There is always a next step.

What does your next step as a follower of Jesus look like? What would a new and next step of faith look like for us as a congregation

gathered in His name?

A Note from Pastor Mike On Sunday, September 28th , we’re having a Neighborhood Picnic. . . at the church instead of at the park. In light of discussions we have been having about “loving our community and neighborhood”… we are going to expand the vision and scope of our annual “church picnic” and turn it into a NEIGHBORHOOD PICNIC.

. . .With a tent. With BLEND IN CONCERT. With the grills going with hotdogs out front and other activity on front lawn.

. . .With children’s activities and rented “inflatable” activities.

. . .With kickball on our ballfield and maybe some Frisbee golf.

Karla Clifon has agreed to be the coordinator of the event and we’ll be using the month of Sept to promote and set some times to deliver fliers door to door in our neighborhood!

We’ll bill it as a Neighborhood Picnic to get to know one another. No secret agendas or arm-twisting. Free food. New friendships. Fun program and games.

Laverne and Ina are already working hard on the food part. Karla’s got ideas galore and we’ll need everyone’s help to pull this event off. We’ll need many people to work in different areas such as promotion, set-up, clean-up, safety, children, youth, food, hospitality, etc.

Please pray about your involvement in this event and let Karla or me know!

You are loved and appreciated!
