Step-Up: 2017-19 Addressing child to parent violence in the home and building respectful family relationships Following the successful delivery of the first 3 cohorts of Step Up during 2015-16, we are delighted to inform you that Step Up has been funded for 8 new cohorts during 2017-19. Step Up aims to support families to establish new methods for handling problems and conflict that will prevent further re-offences of violence and abuse by young people in the home. We are now taking for referrals for cohort’s to be delivered in: Barrow, Workington, Whitehaven and Carlisle 10 young people and their parents/carers are needed to begin each cohort. In 2017/18 we are planning 2 x 8 week cohorts from June-July and 16 and 21week cohorts to be delivered from September to March. This will be repeated in 2018/19. Initial delivery locations will depend of where the majority of initial referral come from then dates and venues will be confirmed. We will keep you informed of progress. The Process: Families referred to Step Up will be assessed on their levels of need and offered an 8 week, 16 week or 21 week programme as appropriate. Completed referral forms are sent to the Step Up co-ordinators Co-ordinators will make contact with the referrer and families and arrange to meet. (The referrer will be kept in contact with as appropriate or requested). Following the initial meeting meeting, if families agree to join the programme, it will be agreed which length of programme is appropriate and dates and times agreed. Opportunities: We are seeking to increase our teams in Barrow, Workington, Whitehaven and Carlisle and would like to offer a unique CPD opportunity to practitioners interested in working with families experiencing child to parent violence in the home. Full training on the programme will be given. Please contact us for further information.
