This image identifies how I chose the photos I wished to edit. As I was working in a group, it was my responsibility to edit short clips so then Megan could later edit them into our News programme. This image displays how I began to edit my clips, cutting my clips down using the multi- trip tool to cut to the relevant parts of the clip.

These two “set scrubbers” are the tools which enabled me to start and stop my trimming at the appropriate timings.

The following images highlight how I was able to cut and crop the moving images into Corel so that I could remove any of the parts where the anchor may have hesitated or “dead air” footage was taken. Each time I needed to edit a clip, I would have to use “import media files” tool in the top right section of the screen. This enabled me to access all my video footage I had taken on my group’s filming day.

This screen shot shows how I have added 2+ clips together after I trimmed down to the relevant parts of the clip. I didn’t have to edit my clips in relation to lighting or contrast as most of my clips involved vox pops or my groups on site reporter therefore we needed it to have a realistic look to uphold the codes and conventions necessary to my media production of a news programme.

This was the most challenging clip that I had to edit. This screen shot identifies how I had to trim two clips in order to manipulate the clips and bring the two together so that both clips ran straight through as one. I considered the position of my weatherman and ensured that he tried to get as close to the position he began the clip in and ended in the same position.

This screen shot shows how I have begun to create my background to replace the green screen as part of my weather clip. I had to copy and paste a picture of a West Midlands map so that I was able to ensure that the location was local and therefore suitable for the form of my local news programme.

This picture demonstrates how I have begun to add my text. I decided to keep my text basic and clear as would be expected by the target audience. Again, I wanted to ensure that the weather clip looked realistic, thus upholding all the codes and conventions expected of a news programme.

After watching my clip through, I have come to the conclusion that my video clip doesn’t meet the full expectations of the codes and conventions expected in a News programme. I therefore decided to ‘tweak’ my original weather clip so that it better suited the genre specific content that my weather man is reporting on.

Here, I have begun to manipulate my background using the ‘remove background’ tool. This helped me to remove my main image of the map from its original background. I was then able to change the background colour from white to blue so that the background colours are matching my house colours from my News programme.

This print screen shows how I have searched for News weather templates and how I have downloaded a template for its graphics to use in my weather report. When the PowerPoint downloaded, I opened it then selected the graphics I wanted in my weather forecast. In order to copy and paste the graphics I left clicked using my computer mouse and used the ‘copy’ tab. To paste it I used the same process but instead of clicking ‘copy’ I clicked ‘paste’.

This screen shot shows how I have added bird sounds to make my weather broadcast look professional using the rural aspect expected of it. I ensured that I used Royalty Free sounds so that there was no cost and I had permission to use the clip.

This screen shot shows how I was able to edit my sounds to shorten their length so I could later use them again during my weather report. I did this by selecting the ‘split clip’ tab.
