STEP BY STEP CONSTRUCTION OF CONTENTS PAGEBy Gursimran Kaur

Page 2: Step by step construction of contents page

STEP 1 First, I opened a blank A4 canvas and turned

it horizontal because I wanted to make a double-spread Contents page.

STEP 2 Next, I edited one of my images for one side of my contents

page like how I had feathered my image for my front cover. Once again, I wanted a professional look, especially because I wanted to make the left side of my Contents page into a advert for a concert; and I chose to use one of my images to portray my models as singer who would be performing on that concert.

STEP 3 I pasted my edited image on the left side of

my Contents page and began constructing the rest of my Contents page.

STEP 4 I added the page numbers on the side along

with the common conventions of a Contents page such as images.

STEP 5 After adding the text on the right side of my contents page, I

began constructing the concert poster on the left side. I used this (real) concert poster to make mine as this was the design which I desired to use.

STEP 6 However, as I was constructing the concert

poster, I was not satisfied with the results I was getting. So I decided to start the poster again so that I could make it look more professional and realistic.

STEP 7 I used various logos of real organisations or companies which usually

support a K-Pop concert to make it look more realistic. The ‘block’ font which I had used as my headline in the front cover, I used it once again in the contents page to create a font theme in the magazine. This is seen in a few K-Pop magazines such as K-Pop.

STEP 8 (FINAL) However, I didn’t quite like the right light of the contents page so I

decided to make it look a bit like the contents of a pop magazines which usually use enlarged numbers for the page numbers and I also added an editor’s message which is common convention of a music magazine. I also added a few more of my own images to cover up the white space and also because pop magazines usually have many images on their contents page.
