STEP 1: BEFORE TEXTURIZING Before proceeding, read the texturizing process instructions carefully and review the outer kit box for complete list of warning. Ensure that you have everything you need for the texturizer service. Curls & Naturals texturizer kit includes: No-Mix Crème Texturizer with Indian Moroccan Argan Oil Neutralizing Shampoo with Color Indicator Leave In Conditioner You will also need: Applicator brush or Small Comb Gloves to protect hands Towels Clock or Timer Hair Oil to protect the hairline STRAND TEST Before you start the texturizer process, make sure you do a strand test. This is important because it will help you to determine if your hair is strong enough to receive a texturizer and also how long the texturizer should be left on the hair. Cut a piece of the hair from the back of the head. Bind one end of the hair strands together. Wearing gloves apply the texturizer evenly and follow the timing guide. If not straight enough, continue checking every 1-2 minutes until the desired straightness is achieved. Examine strand test section and note timing. DO NOT exceed the maximum time on the timing chart based on your hair texture. STEP 2: APPLICATION Begin the texturizer process by wearing your gloves. STEP 3: SMOOTHING Why Smooth? Smoothing is an essential step to the texturizing process because it helps you to achieve the desired straightness by evenly distributing the texturizer. How to Smooth. 1. Smooth the texturizer using the back of a comb or fingertips. 2. Start smoothing where the texturizer was first applied (top of head). 3. Continue throughout the head in the order the texturizer was applied. 4. Ensure that you don’t exceed your recommended time. Tips for Smoothing. To Texturize Virgin Hair… Smooth from roots to end. Do not comb through because combing can cause damage to the hair and scalp. To Touch Up… Apply and smooth the texturizer to new growth only. Avoid smoothing previously relaxed hair because this will cause over-processing. 2A: Part hair into 4 sections. Apply hair oil to protect hairline. Set the timer for the recommended time. See the timing chart section. 2C: Next, apply texturizer to the back sections. 2D: Apply to the hairline last. This section should be the last since it is the most delicate part of the hair and it needs to be treated with tender loving care. 2B: Start with the top of the head first since this section is the most resistant on most people and takes the longest to process. Then using a small comb or applicator brush apply texturizer close to the scalp, but not on the scalp. If this is a touch-up, apply to new growth. See Tips for Smoothing. STEP 5: NEUTRALIZING 1. Apply a generous amount of AtOne with Nature Neutralizing Shampoo to the hair and work into a rich lather. This Color Indicator shampoo lather will turn pink if there is still texturizer in the hair. (5A) 2. Rinse shampoo out of the hair. (5B) 3. Proceed by applying for the second time a generous amount of shampoo and work into rich lather. 4. Massage scalp to help remove texturizer, and then allow the shampoo to sit on hair for 2-3 minutes. 5. Since the Neutralizing Shampoo is a color indicator, it should begin to turn white to indicate the texturizer is completely remove from the hair. If the lather is still pink, rinse and repeat shampoo until lather turns white. 6. Rinse shampoo completely from hair (5B) 7. After rinsing, your hair will feel silky, soft and tangle free. 8. Towel-dry hair. Significance of the Neutralizing Shampoo? The Neutralizing Shampoo is formulated to stop the relaxing process and helps in returning the hair to its normal PH balance. It also helps to ensure that all traces of the texturizer are removed from the hair. What is Color Indicator Protection? The color indicator protection feature is designed to signal when all traces of the texturizer are removed from the hair. If the lather is pink, continue shampooing and rinsing until the lather becomes white. White lather indicates that the texturizer is fully rinsed from the hair. STEP 4: RINSE Rinsing is very important to avoid damage and over-processing of your hair. Using Luke warm water, thoroughly rinse the hair for approximately 5 minutes, especially around the ears, nape, and hairline.
