The Principal’s Podium
For the month of October 2012 “People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. The people who get on in this world are they who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, make them.” George Bernard Shaw
ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES/ACHIEVEMENTS
The academic achievement recognition will be a measure of relative growth in courses by students. Mid-term grades will be compared to final course grades. Students who have “grown” an overall seven percentage points (after converting letter grades to numerical grades) will be recognized. We will work to implement this measure during the 2012-13 school year.

The STEM PTSA will be sponsoring a “Help Our Community” Drive! This effort will provide an avenue for us to collected items that can be given assist families in our community that may need just a little help. We will be partnering with several different resources in the area to help us identify where our help is most needed. Some items that we will be asking our families to donate are gently used clothing, non-perishable foods, and your time. If you have non-perishable food items you would like to donate now, please do so! We will have a designated time and location to collect these items.

“PASS THE HAT” Fundraiser
STEM Early College PTSA is beginning its second year and we need your help to
fund valuable programs that will benefit our diverse student population! After
consideration, we have decided to begin raising funds by taking donations in a
“Pass the Hat” fundraiser. This campaign has no sales, no gimmicks, no work,
just your tax-deductible donation. 100% of your donation goes to fund the PTSA.
If every family can donate $10 - $50, we could raise up to $5,000! This will
enable the PTSA to purchase PTSA insurance, hold school dances and outside
events, and provide materials for the classrooms. Our goal is 100% of families
participating, at any amount you are about to donate. Please be as generous as
you can and remember that corporate matching gifts are a way to double your
impact!
STEM Early College PTSA is a 501©3 organization and is eligible for corporate
matching funds. If your company matches donations, you can double your
donation!
Thank you for donating to this important fundraiser!
