Brentwood Science Lab to Open in FaBy Ryan Pedersen
Institutional Readiness
One of the largest STEM grant
projects is the construction of a new
science lab at the Brentwood
center. The new 32 student lab has
increased from its originally
planned size to 1,763 square feet
and will allow for both Biology and
Physics labs to be offered in
Brentwood in upcoming semesters.
The plans will be submitted to the
city of Brentwood for approval and
it is expected that the lab will be
ready to occupy and begin set up
this June. Sections of both General
Biology (Bio 10) and Biology for
Biology majors (Bio 20 and 21) will
be offered starting in the Fall
semester. Following this, new
Physics offerings will be available as
well. Currently over 2,200 students
attend courses at the Brentwood
Center which currently has no
science lab.
Offering these students the
opportunity to take courses that
require labs in Brentwood is
expected to make a significant
impact on our ability to
accommodate STEM majors who
