Introduction :

Dear Confreres,

Pope Francis in his Apostolic Exhortation “Gaudete et Exsultate”invites all people of God to live a life of Holiness in a practical wayfor our own time. It is a call to be holy and blameless before him inlove. God has created us to be happy. In order to be happy orblessed we need to live in constant prayer, in other words to be holyas St. Paul exhorts, “I appeal to you, therefore, brethren, by themercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holyand acceptable to God” (Rom 12:1). Pope Francis reinsists theuniversal call to holiness in all walks of life. He likes to contemplatethe holiness present in the patience of God’s People: in those parentswho raise their children with immense love, in those men and womenwho work hard to support their families, in the sick, in elderly religiouswho never lose their smile. The Lord calls us to holiness, each inhis or her own way. The Lord addresses to each of us the call thathe also addresses, personally, to you: “Be holy, for I am holy” (Lev.11:44). The Second Vatican Council stated this clearly: “Strengthenedby so many and such great means of salvation, all the faithful,whatever their condition or state, are called by the Lord – each in hisor her own way – to that perfect holiness by which the Father himselfis perfect”. We are frequently tempted to think that holiness is onlyfor those who can withdraw from ordinary affairs to spend muchtime in prayer. That is not the case. We are called to be holy byliving our lives with love and by bearing witness in everything we do,whereever we find ourselves.

As we are beginning the new accademic year, I wish to congratulateall those who are engaged in educational ministry for the excellentresults in the last year and wish all the best for the new accademicyear to radiate holiness in our ministry and be more human to thepeople we are called to serve. As of now all those who are transferredmust have taken charge. I wish all of you a fruitful ministry in thegiven situation and bear fruit abundantly. Be holy by living out yourcommitment with joy.

Appointment ofRev. Fr. Chinnappa Reddy MSFS as Provincial:

Very Rev. Fr. Superior General has appointed Rev. Fr. ChinnappaReddy MSFS as the Provincial Superior of Visakhapatnam Provincefor the second term of three years. Rev. Fr. Chinnappa Reddy willtake charge on 3rd July 2018. Congratulations and best Wishes andMay God bless him abuntantly to carry out his responsibility.

Informations :1. Vote for Delegates to the General Chanpter 2019, has been

dispatched to the communities. I request all the confreres to sendback the ballots duly filled to the Provincial’s Office latest by5th July 2018.

2. Annual Retreat for the year 2018 is scheduled to be conductedbetween 3rd – 8th September 2018 (First Retreat) and 7th – 12th

January 2019 ( Second Retreat). The confreres are requestedto make necessary arrangements in the community to participatein either of the retreats with out fail.

3. I request the Superiors and the conveners of the ApostolicCommunities to discuss the Working Paper III and send thereports to the Provincial’s Office latest by 20th June 2018.

4. All the priests are requested to send their Certificate of Diaconateand Certificate of Ordination to the Provincial’s Office at theearliest.

5. I request all the local communities to organise a grand celebrationof the Foundation Day of the congregation as a day of community.

6. Sisters from Rajupalem and Agripally have discontinued theirservices in our mission.

7. Fr. Shaibin will go to Germany on 16th June 2018 for PastoralMinistry. Bon Voyage.

Grotto Inauguration at Mellavagu Reddypalem Parish

A new Grotto was built at Mellavagu Reddypalem parish. It issponsored and built by a Gali Prathpreddy and family. GaliPrathpreddy is from Rentachinthala parish. He runs a nursery in thevicinity of Reddypalem. Mr. Parathpreddy and his family have greatdevotion to Mother Mary and cherish filial affection towardsReddypalem parish. The Grotto construction began in the month ofAugust, was completed in the month of May. It was inaugurated onMay 6th by V. Rev Fr. P. Chinnapareddy, the Provincial Superior ofVizag province. Prayer services of legion of Mary and Rosary devotions

are conducted at this grotto. ThisGrotto increases prayerful atmosphereof the parish compound. We,parishioners of Reddypalem remainever grateful to Mr. Gali Prathapreddy and family for their kind gesture.

MSFS NATIONAL EDUCATION SEMINAR 2018A three day Education Seminar was held from 4th May to 6th May atAlankrita resorts, Shameerpet, Hyderabad. The seminar was hostedby Mother Province after a long time gap. The inaugural ceremonywas on the evening of 4th May. Rev. Fr. George Parampukkattil,General secretary for education, Rev. Fr. Agnelo Fernandez, Generalsecretary for Mission and Innovative Ministries, Rev. Fr. Noel Rebello,General secretary for Formation, Rev. Fr.P. Chinnappareddy, theProvincial Superior of Visakhapatnam Province and Rev. Fr. BennyKottanal, Provincial Superior of South West Province attended theinaugural ceremony. The inaugural Holy Eucharist was celebratedby Rev. Fr. Chinnapparedddy. The Key note address was deliveredby Rev. Fr. Benny Kottanal. Fr. Noel released the booklet of Policiesand Guidelines formulated by the FEF-R. Two full day sessions wereheld on 5th and 6th May. Some of the topics discussed were: 21st

century leadership, Effective leader in the 21st century, Leadershipand levels of leadership, National Education Policy, CBCI EducationPolicy and Goods and Services Tax. The Resource persons were:Prof. Dr. B.L. Handoo, Rev. Fr.Joseph Manipadam SDB (CBCI CoreTeam Member) and Mr. Ritesh Mittal (Income Tax). The sessionswere innovative and informative. There were 75 participants fromSix Indian Provinces. Fr. Sunny Vettickal of East Africa also attended

the Seminar. There was also Hyderabad Darshan arranged on 7th

May. All the participants were happy regarding the arrangementsmade for the seminar. Special thanks to Fr. George Parampukkattiland Fr.P. Chinnappareddy for their support and guidance. INITIATION AND FIRST PROFESSIONOn 30th May 2018, 11 candidates were initiated to novitiate atSalesianum at a simple ceremony presided over by Very Rev. Fr.Chinnappa Reddy, the Provincial of Vizag Province in the presenceof A. Santhiagu, the councilor in-charge of formation of the SouthEast Province. The Salesianum community and a few other confrereswere present. Of the 11 new novices 8 are for South East Provinceand 3 for Vizag.

On 31st May 2018, we had the First Religious Profession inSalesianum. The ceremony started at 10.30 a.m. Fr. P. ChinnappaReddy was the main celebrant. Fr. A. Santhiagu the delegate of theProvincial of S. E. Province along with other priest concelebrated.The vows of the two of the novices, who are for VisakhapatnamProvince were received by the provincial Very Rev. Fr. P. ChinnnappaReddy. Fr. A. Santhiagu, the delegate of the Provincial of SouthEast Province received the vows of six of their novices. Fr. A.Santhiagu preached an inspiring and thought provoking homily. Mostof our confreres from the city were present. Also many religioussisters and a few of our friends and well wishers joined us for thefunction. Fr. Vijay Peter the out-going socius welcomed all at thebeginning of the celebration and Fr. Thomas Perumalil thanked themall at the end of the function. After lunch all the guests and confreresof other communities left. The newly professed left for Bangalore onthe following day, 1st June 2018 to continue their formation in SuvidyaCollege. Perpetual Profession inMSFS Study House, Janampet, Eluru

In the Biblical tradition, number 7 is considered to be an auspiciousand perfect whole. On the 5th of June, 2018, the Fransalians at MSFSStudy House had the joy of witnessing the Perpetual Profession of 7Confreres, belonging to two Provinces of South East India Provinceand Visakhapatnam Province. 2 Confreres from South East Provinceand 5 Confreres from Visakhapatnam Province made their perpetualCommitment in the Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Francisde Sales. Rev.Fr. P.Chinnappa Reddy, Provincial of Visakhapatnam,received the Perpetual Commitment of the Confreres and declaredthem as full-fledged members of the Religious Community ofMissionaries of St. Francis de Sales, sharing all things in common.Rev. Fr. A. Santhiyagu, Vice –Provincial and Provincial Councillor(SE), in-Charge of Formation, preached an inspiring homily on thisoccasion of the Perpetual Profession. It was a family celebrationwith Msfs Confreres from Nidadavole and Tanuku, Osfs fathers fromVijayarai and Dsfs sisters from Eluru. All together we were some 50persons to join in the celebration. While we thank God for the gift ofthese 7 Confreres, we do congratulate them and wish them God’sabundant blessings on each of them.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSE

The Third Marriage Preparation Course conducted at MSFSDHYANASHRAM on 12th of May 2018. The Programme began with aHymn of Praise at 9.30 am by the children of Chinna Waltair Choirfollowed by the Words of Welcome, Lighting of the Lamp, Opening Prayerand Scripture Reading Jn. ( 2.1-11). After the Introductory talk by Fr.Francis Stephen the First Session began with Prof. Dr. Victor Babu whospoke about Marriage and its Global perspective. He said in many placesin the world Marriage is becoming more and more a Contract ratherthan a permanent Covenant. So Christian Marriage is truly a blessingto humanity. In the Second Session, Rev Fr. G. Dominic Savio spoke indetail about the Sacramental nature of the Marriage and how themarriage unites the couple not only at physical level but also at thelevel of the spirit. Thus it is a complete union of both body and soul.After the Tea-Break the Third Session began by Rev Fr.Yugal Kumarwho spoke about the theme Marriage and Canon Law. He explained tothe would be couple the implications of Canon Law and other required

awareness with various examples. In the Fourth Session Mr .RajanV.R.A. Spoke about Marriage as a Lifelong relationship with variouspractical examples and how a family counseling will be a great help intimes of need to deepen the meaningful marital commitment. After theLunch break and recreation in the Fifth Session Advocate Mrs. K. Jayagave a beautiful talk on Marriage and Civil Law and how the coupleshould be more faithful to the Divine Law and also be aware of theimplications of the Civil law in particular situations. In the Sixth SessionDoctor Jayaraj elaborated Biological, Psychological, Social, Sexual,Moral and Medical aspects of Marriage. In the Seventh Session, Fr.Francis Stephen spoke about the Skills of Parenting and Inter personalrelationships. And after the Tea- break we have an interesting EighthSession i.e., Sharing by Senior Couple Mr. Vijay Kumar & Mrs. Vijaya.Their 28 years of actual beautiful married life experiences became animpetus to the would be couples. At 5.30 pm we have presented thebeautiful certificates to all the 68 CANDIDATES from 17 parishes ofArchdiocese of Visakhapatnam. With the photo session followed by ahymn to Our Lady the day’s programme came to an end. Sincere Thanksto our beloved ARCH BISHOP MOST REV DR. MALLAVARAPUPRAKASH Garu for his prayerful support. We appreciate our ProvincialSuperior Very Rev Fr. Chinnappa Reddy MSFS for his constantencouragement.

Programme for the Year ofLocal Community in Vizag Province

Modelled after the Holy Trinity, and the Early Christian Community,every Local Community will have everything in Common. We striveto be of one Heart, one Soul and one Spirit. We will create anatmosphere in the community where every member will have a senseof belonging, caring, trusting and forgiving.

To mark the Year of Community:1. Every Community will have a community Recollection every month.

2. Improve the regularity in community activities like prayer, adoration,mass, meals, spiritual renewal in the community etc.

3. Visit to the Houses of the confreres, to collect the communitymembers’ family phone numbers to contact in case of emergency.

4. To be myself for the community.5. Community pilgrimage, picnic etc.6. To take care of the senior and elderly confreres.7. To pray for the other member’s relatives both living and deceased

during the Holy Mass.8. To speak positively always about the other members.9. To conduct community meetings every month.10. To celebrate the Congregation Foundation day as community day.11. To invite the priests, sisters, and religious to have a common

celebration on special occasions of the congregation.12. To celebrate the members’ birthdays, feast days, ordination

anniversary.13. To invite senior confreres to the community to have an experience

sharing.14. To build up cordial relationship with local ordinary, diocesan clergy,

and other religious communities.15. To help the poor and needy from our personal sacrifices16. To be kind and generous towards the people we are called to serve.17. Organize Mission Sangamam on our Congregation Foundation
