    • I was born and raised in America like my mother and sister.
  • 3. SD on Family:
    • My dad was born in New Zealand and spent most of his life moving between New Zealand, Germany, and Australia.
  • 4. SD on Family:
    • My mothers mother is Australian and her father is American. My dads mother is New Zealand and his father is German.

    • I live with my one sister, my father, and my mother.

    • My Opa and Oma come to visit occasionally. My sister, mother, & I visit my moms mother every summer.

    • My dads role is (at the moment) primary wage earner; does most of the laundry; and maintains our yard
    • My moms role in the family is she makes us dinner most every night unless we go out; she cleans; pays the bills; helps my sister and I do homework; and packs our lunches.

    • My role, somewhat small as well, I have to do my homework and do other chores around the house
    • My sisters role is very simple; do her homework.

    • My mom keeps pictures of when she got married and when my sister and I were babies
    • Many of the books in our house are German and some of the best childrens books we have are from New Zealand

    • Stefan is a German name, spoken with a German accent (it really doesnt sound German when people besides my family pronounce it).
    • My mom and dad (and me) named my sister Nina, and it is very popular in Europe (It also means baby girl in Spanish).

    • I believe that when you die, you go to heaven and through good deeds and work earn the right to be a human again. When you become human again you are placed inside another body (different from the one before).

    • I think God is a sacred person because he created life as we know it

    • My mom keeps a cross in our house and I have always thought of it as protection from anything bad ever happening to our house

    • Ive attended the same church since I was born and always feel safe and welcome there. I was baptized in my Grandmas church in Cincinnati

    • I feel that my culture is unique to me because I have adapted to it and that it fits me. I might have trouble adjusting into anothers culture if I moved to another country

    • My personal space is small (even though I got first pick on what room I wanted)

    • I have some private property that I dont want to share (hey, its private!)
    • The things I like to do are play video games, read, draw comics, build Lego ships, play with my friends, build stick forts in my backyard, watch TV, and lots of other things

    • I do swimming after school two days a week and Im a Cub Scout (soon to be a Boy Scout)
    • I have lots of toys in my room that are somewhat outdated for me to play with that is because I think one day they will start to be collectors items so I can sell them for a lot of money!

    • Greetings are the normal wave and Hello! or maybe a How are you?
    • Community etiquette is a normal American manner like to wait to say Grace before eating

    • There are several schools in my community (ISM, Seaside High, Monterey Bay Christian, Ord Terrace, and others)

    • Laws in Seaside I suspect are like any other American community.
    • The attitude toward animals is to treat them with kindness.

    • The kind of food I eat is average American food like pasta or hot dogs but sometimes I have other foods like beef stroganoff and potstickers.
    • My family normally eats at the dining room table with plates, forks, knives, and spoons

    • My mom sings songs to me and my sister that her mother sang to her when she was little. Many are Australian.
    • The holidays my family celebrates are Christmas, Halloween, Lent, Thanksgiving, Easter, and other American holidays like July 4 th .

    • During Christmas we celebrate the German tradition of receiving a gift from the Christ child on Christmas Eve and mix it with American culture by opening more gifts from Santa on Christmas morning.

    • My parents keep paintings made by me and my sister and other bowls and sculptures from other countries

    • The music I listen to is rap, pop, hip hop, and whatever is on the radio station
    • My family does not have any dances that are culturally based, but we like to dance in the living room sometimes.

    • My family travels mostly by car, then walking/hiking, biking, flying, and on special occasions, boating

    • My family lives on a tight budget. If we want to buy something we believe we have to work for it first before spending.

    • The language my family speaks and writes is English. My dad speaks German with my Opa when they Skype.
    • We do use Australian/New Zealand & German phrases at home i.e. rubbish, essen, and nein

    • I think I am 85% American, 5% German, 5% New Zealand, and 5% Australian, even though by birth Im 25% American, 25% Australian, 25% New Zealand, and 25% German

    • I acquired my culture from my home, school, and the area I live
    • I have also acquired it by soaking up my surroundings when I was a baby
