Steel HomesSteel Homes are emerging as an

affordable and environmentally

friendly alternative to wood for

today’s home buyer and builder.

Increasing prices in lumber make

steel the ideal choice for your

family’s new home.

ICON Building Systems is proud to be named one the elite few metal building companies to be awarded an Energy Star® partnership.

All of our steel homes and metal buildings can be designed to meet or exceed Government guidelines for energy efficiency.

All of our steel homes and metal buildings meet or exceede Government guidelines for energy efficiency.

With new and more rigorous EPA guidelines to earn the label, ENERGY STAR qualified homes are quieter and more comfortable than ever, have lower utility bills, and help protect the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Look for a home with the ENERGY STAR, the government-backed symbol for superior energy efficiency.

ENERGY STAR qualified homes offer homebuyers all the features they want in a new home, plus energy-efficient improvements that deliver better performance, greater comfort, and lower utility bills.

Strength – No sagging, warping or splitting as with a wood framed home. Walls and corners are straighter with fewer potential cracks. Over time, wood will deteriorate causing the structure to lean, become unstable, or attract damaging insects. A steel paneled roof will resist damaging elements, such as hail, far better than a shingled roof.

Fire Safety – An unfortunate fire can quickly engulf a traditional framed home due to the great amounts of wood present. Some reports claim that home fires cause over 4,000 deaths every year. Steel frames will not fuel a potential home fire, as a wood frame will. Steel home owners may even see lower insurance costs.

Termite/Mold Resistance – Termites are one of a home’s worst enemies, steel framed homes are virtually impervious to termites and other wood-infesting insects. Moisture retaining wood frames not only attracts insects, but mold as well. Steel frames will not attract or retain the moisture that wood frames will.

Environmentally Friendly – Less wood in the home means fewer trees being cut down. Steel is easily recycled without loosing its strength and stability. Steel can be salvaged from old cars, appliances, and other sources to be melted down and reformed into new structural elements. Since the steel pieces are pre-fabricated off-site, the amount of scrap is minimal.

Extreme Climate Resistance – Drastic climate changes can take its toll on wood frames, causing it to expand and contract. This compromises the integrity of the home’s structure as the wood warps, bends, and splits. Steel framed homes are less susceptible to natural disasters, such as extremely high wind conditions, hail and even earthquakes.

Economically Sound – Steel homes are constructed with six to eight inch thick walls rather than the standard wooden two-by-fours, allowing for thicker insulation and lower energy bills. Steel homes also require less maintenance than the traditional home. This not only leaves more time for the important things in life, but also a higher re-sale value.
