    The contractor is responsible for the preparation of the steel design calculations,

    design details, transportation and construction which will be subjected to the

    approval of engineer.

    The structural steel shall comply with the requirement of BS EN 10025 ,1993 , BS EN

    10277; 1999 , BS EN 10278 : 1999 ; BS 3100 , 1991 , BS EN 10113: 1993; BS 4190-2001;

    BS 3692 :2001 , BS 4395;1969; BS 4604: 1970 .

    The quality records of the plant (s) manufacturing steels and product shall be

    provided together with other supporting information to show that the proposed

    steel maker produces steel and produces steel to the required quality.

    Two single span bridges, one of 70m span and the other is 75m span. Each bridge is

    composed of 7m carriageway including curbs and only one meter sidewalk. The deck

    is concrete with minimum reinforcement on steel sheets.

    A vehicular barrier is to be provided a on a parapet up stand on the outer edge of the

    deck. The barriers shall be a type L/1.00/O parapet complying with BS 6779. Part

    1:1998.

    The design speed for the highway is to be taken as 90Km/h

    The design life of the bridge will be 120 years. Bridge bearings and expansion joints

    will be specified with aim of achieving a service life of 50 years with provision for

    maintenance of minor components. They will be designed to be replaceable.
