Dear family of St. Thomas Aquinas,
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, a fundamental truth about our faith which is hard to grasp at times. We believe in ONE God who is three distinct persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We believe that “God is LOVE” and therefore since God is Love, there has to be a “beloved” who is God the Son. The Holy Spirit is the love between the Father and the Son. The mysteries of our faith are not mysteries to be solved but rather they are mysteries that we have to behold. We will understand the mystery of the Trinity only by spending time in prayer with each member of the Holy Trinity. Today’s gospel is a good reminder that each one of us is called to be a missionary. Some of us are called to be full time missionaries in the mission field as priests and religious or even as lay persons. We must pray daily for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. I know we will soon see more vocations come from our parish. However, every baptized Catholic is called to be a missionary by witnessing to the gospel in our everyday life. Our mission field may be our homes, our workplaces and neighborhoods. Having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, how is the Lord calling you to be his missionary?

Hoy celebramos la solemnidad de la Santísima Trinidad, una verdad fundamental sobre nuestra fe que a veces es difícil de comprender. Creemos en un Dios que es tres personas distintas: el Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo. Creemos que "Dios es Amor" y por lo tanto, si Dios es amor, tiene que haber un "amado" que sea Dios el Hijo. El Espíritu Santo es el amor entre el Padre y el Hijo. Los misterios de nuestra fe no son misterios que necesitamos resolver, sino que son misterios que tenemos que contemplar.
