strategy of the British and through his diplomacy and

tact overthrew their motives, uniting the disintegrated

collection of many small and big princely states. A gem

of a freedom fighter who was born into a simple

farmer's family, he was the one who was instrumental in

mobilizing the farmer community to join the freedom

struggle. He not only pursued Swaraj, but laid equal

emphasis on Su-raaj; i.e Good Governance. Sardar

Patel's contribution to the inception of a Modern United

India is invaluable truly making him the ‘Son of the Soil’.

history. To keep him alive in the hearts of the generations

a massive project is being undertaken.

THE MONUMENT

Sardar Patel brought the nation together and this

tribute, the Statue of Unity, will bring the country

national pride. This unique initiative of the Gujarat aims

at building the World Largest Statue, a structure that will

be 182 meters (392 feet) tall. Standing tall opposite one

of the biggest dams in the world will be this monument

that will, just like Sardar's spirit and will, surpass the rest.

Visitors at this statue will be able to get a panoramic

view of the picturesque surrounding from a height of

almost 400 feet. A monument, that will not just be a

mute memorial like the rest, but a fully functional,

purpose-serving tribute that will boost tourism and

facilitate development in the surrounding tribal areas.

Apart from these, the area surrounding the monument

will have.

But as becoming as the statue is, equally befitting should

the location be, so it was decided to construct this

statue at the Narmada Dam.

The grand monument will be placed directly facing the

Narmada Dam at a distance of 3.2 km at the Sadhu Bet.

As the world's tallest statue positioned on one of the

world's largest dam sites, this statue will be a wonderful

sight, nestled at the foothills of the Satpura ranges and

garlanded by a range of mountains. Standing tall amidst

fresh waters and greenery the majesty of this grand

monument will be enhanced by its picturesque

surroundings.

A separate Society under the enthusiastic

Cha i rmansh ip o f The Ch ie f Min i s ter,

Shri Narendra Modi will be formed to ensure

world-class execution of the entire project. Initial

processes for obtaining the required permissions

and resourcing expert opinions too are underway.

The entire monument will built on a Public Private

Partnership model with most of the funds coming in

by way of public contribution.
